The NHL season is quickly approaching, and the Vancouver Canucks want fans to get hyped.
It’s no secret that the Canucks are not expected to make much noise this season. The team has fully committed to a rebuild, and it will likely take a while until Vancouver can be considered a real playoff threat. Despite that, there is still a lot of excitement around this team as training camp looms.
New coach Manny Malhotra will be guiding a young Canucks squad that includes exciting up-and-comers such as Caleb Malhotra, Zeev Buium, Braeden Cootes, Jonathan Lekkerimäki, and Marco Rossi.
There is also a bit of intrigue around a potential bounce-back season for Elias Pettersson and the arrival of veteran forward Brendan Gallagher. To help get fans in the right mindset before the new season, the Canucks announced a brand-new Fan Fest for fans to enjoy, which will take place over three days next week, starting on Sept. 24.
“A three-day celebration full of hockey, entertainment, and unforgettable fan experiences, bringing Canucks fans together as one,” the team revealed on social media on Friday evening.

The festivities will begin next Thursday, Sept. 24, as fans are invited to Rogers Arena to greet the players on the “Blue Carpet” ahead of the team’s first preseason game at home against the Edmonton Oilers. Fans will have the opportunity to get autographs and take photos with their favourite players during the event.
That will be followed up on Friday, Sept. 25, with a public open practice that will allow fans a closer look at how this year’s team will be preparing. After that, there will be a meet-the-team event for full season ticket members, as well as a Canucks for Kids Fund charity hockey game that will include alumni such as Henrik Sedin, Mason Raymond, Geoff Courtnall, and Kirk McLean taking to the ice.
Fans can watch that game by purchasing a $5 ticket, which will serve as a donation, and will be able to enjoy a $5 menu at the rink that includes beer, pop, pizza, hot dogs, and popcorn.
The final day of the festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26, and will once again focus on a Canucks preseason game, this time against the Seattle Kraken. The day will kick off with a career networking event, and then transition into a pre-game party at Pat Quinn Way and Expo Boulevard, which will include a live DJ, street hockey, and food trucks.
Fans will then be invited to yet another “Blue Carpet” event before the game against the Kraken, which will act as the send-off for the festival.
