Final Fantasy VII Revelation has been announced for Switch 2, and it will be a simultaneous release across all platforms on April 8th, 2027. While we still have a while to wait for launch, series director Naoki Hamaguchi has been discussing Revelation and all things Final Fantasy VII in advance and sharing some interesting tidbits to tide us over.

During an interview with Gamerbraves, Hamaguchi talked about how Final Fantasy VII Revelation can be enjoyed as a standalone experience. While the title is obviously meant to cap off the remake trilogy, Hamaguchi believes players can still hop in on Revelation and enjoy it in and of itself, but obviously those who play both Remake and Rebirth before it will get even more from the adventure. (h/t Stealth40k)

“Final Fantasy VII Revelation has been designed as a standalone experience, so players can jump in and enjoy it even if it’s their first entry in the trilogy. That’s a philosophy we’ve maintained throughout the series.

That said, because this is the conclusion to the trilogy, I truly hope players will experience Remake and Rebirth before starting Revelation. We now offer a great-value Trilogy Pack, and the in-game boost features make it easier than ever to focus on the story and catch up on the journey. I hope many fans will join us on April 8th and experience the conclusion of this long journey together.”

As indicated by the many trailers and gameplay videos, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will include all sorts of thrilling moments for players, no matter whether they’ve played the previous installments or are going in blind with Revelation. That includes jumping out of the Highwind to parachute down to any location on the map below. When this mechanic was first revealed, fans were quick joke that it looked like it was ripped straight out of Fortnite. Turns out it wasn’t a joke at all, as Hamaguchi confirmed in a <a href="https://www.gamesradar.com/games/final-fantasy/after-countless-memes-final-fantasy-7-revelation-boss-confirms-that-yes-fortnite-partly-inspired-jumping-out-of-the-highwind/” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>GamesRadar interview that the team “did get a bit of inspiration from Fortnite, [we] won’t lie about that.”
