Candace Reflects on Marriage and Parenthood Challenges
Valeri Bure does not usually step into his wife’s spotlight. He did on the Thursday, November 5, episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, by video, in a message he recorded for Candace Cameron Bure while she was in the middle of the competition.
Every recruit got a message from loved ones back home on the Thursday, November 5, episode. Valeri Bure, 52, was the one who showed up on Candace’s screen, Us Weekly reported.
Valeri Bure Surprises Candace with a Video Message
He opened simply. He called her his love, told her he loved her and missed her very much.
Then came the line that landed: “I cannot wait to give you a hug.”
Small sentence. Big weight on a show built around sleep deprivation, cold water, and military-style instructors yelling in your face. Candace, 50, signed up for a season designed to break people down, and her husband’s contribution was a reminder of something waiting for her at the end of it.
He Expresses Pride in Her Strength and Growth
Valeri Bure told his wife he was proud of her for taking on something that was making her grow. He predicted the experience would rank among the best of her life.
He also gave her a ranking of her own. According to Us Weekly, he told her she was strong mentally and strong physically, and that the most important strength was spiritual. Then he told her again that he loved her.
Nobody needs a relationship expert to decode that order.
Faith has been central to how Candace talks about her life for years, and her husband put it at the top of the list. He did not praise her for winning. Or for being tough enough. He named the thing he knows she values most and told her she had plenty of it.
Married people learn which compliments actually reach the other person. Twenty-nine years in, he clearly knows his.

Candace Reflects on Marriage and Parenthood Challenges
Candace married Valeri Bure in 1996. They share three children. She has been unusually open about the fact that those decades were not one smooth stretch.
Speaking on the Stay True podcast in November 2025, she said they had great years and some years she wished they could take back and do over. Marriage, she said, is a constant reevaluation. Schedules change. A couple has to keep adapting and keep finding new rhythms, she explained, because the old ones will not hold.
Flexibility was the word she leaned on. She said it is the first thing to go between a husband and wife.
Parenthood, by her account, is where that gets tested hardest. Young kids demand everything, she said, and older kids can play parents against each other without either adult noticing. Manipulative and adorable. She called them both in the same breath. Her advice at the end was plain: prioritize the relationship.
Watching the video message next to that interview, the two fit together. A husband at home while his wife is off doing something grueling is exactly the kind of schedule shift she was describing. Valeri Bure expressed his love and support for Candace Cameron Bure in a video message. He told her to keep going. The hug would be there when she got back.
Season 5 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox. How far Candace gets in the competition has not yet aired.
