V Inc. (headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kota Fujiwara) has created a giant 3D model of “Thunderbird 3” as part of the 60th anniversary project marking the debut of “Thunderbirds” on Japanese television, organized by Tohokushinsha. The model appears in “Lumarnity®,” the lunar smart community that JGC Global Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Shoji Yamada) operates as a VRChat world, starting August 12, 2026.
A Giant “Thunderbird 3” Towers Over the Lunar Surface
To mark the 60th anniversary of “Thunderbirds” debuting on Japanese television in 2026, Tohokushinsha is carrying out a range of anniversary initiatives, including a new Japanese key visual, new merchandise, digital projects, and a screening event and talk show celebrating “Thunderbirds Day” on September 30.
As part of this digital expansion, V Inc. produced and provided the giant 3D model of “Thunderbird 3” installed in “Lumarnity®,” the lunar smart community that JGC Global operates on VRChat.
Thunderbird 3 is a rocket used for rescue operations in space. In “Lumarnity®,” visitors can get an up-close view of the towering Thunderbird 3 on the lunar surface and take commemorative photos with their avatars.
The result is a VRChat experience unique to the platform, blending the futuristic lunar world of “Lumarnity®” with “Thunderbirds,” a series that has long depicted rescue missions set in the future.
About “Lumarnity®,” VRChat’s Lunar Smart Community
“Lumarnity®” (Lunar Smart Community®) is a lunar smart community conceived by JGC Global, featuring circular infrastructure centered on a lunar propellant production plant.
The VRChat world lets visitors experience a vision of the future lunar surface, including the propellant production plant, a lunar base, communication facilities, solar panels, 3D printers, and a lunar port.
The giant “Thunderbird 3” 3D model now featured in the world adds a new photo spot marking the 60th anniversary of the series’ Japanese broadcast.
Supported Devices: PCVR / PC Desktop Mode (Windows PC). Not compatible with standalone Meta Quest (Android version).

About the “Thunderbirds” 60th Anniversary Project in Japan
“Thunderbirds” is a special-effects puppet series that first aired in the United Kingdom in 1965 and in Japan the following year, 1966. With its distinctive “Supermarionation” filming technique, groundbreaking special effects, memorable music, and a futuristic vision of everyday life, it has remained beloved worldwide as entertainment that goes beyond a typical children’s show.
To mark the 60th anniversary of its Japanese television debut in 2026, Tohokushinsha, which handles video and merchandising rights for the series in Japan, is running a series of anniversary initiatives, including a new Japanese key visual, new merchandise, digital projects, and a screening event and talk show celebrating “Thunderbirds Day” on September 30.
V Inc. says it will continue to honor the world and appeal of the IP while translating it into experiences unique to social VR.
