Twitch has added a feature that allows users to prohibit the use of content from their channels to train Amazon’s generative AI models. The “Training for Generative AI” toggle is available in the platform’s security and privacy settings tab
Once this option is disabled, future training of Amazon models designed to generate or synthesize text, audio, images, or video will not use the user’s live streams, recorded streams, clips, stream chats, or images and text on their channel.

Opting out of this training does not disable other AI-powered Twitch features. In particular, captions and safety tools will continue to function. Amazon also notes that turning off the toggle does not prevent Twitch and Amazon from using the channel’s content for other purposes outlined in Twitch’s privacy policy.
Among these purposes, the company cites tools for streamer growth and monetization, including assistance with real-time sponsorship campaigns, content discovery recommendations, and safety features such as AutoMod. If a user types in the chat of someone else’s stream, whether those messages can be used for training is determined by the settings of the channel owner. A journalist from The Verge discovered that the toggle in his settings was enabled and reached out to Amazon to ask whether this is the default setting.
