Truxton Extreme launch trailer – new Nintendo Switch 2 game that’s the series’ first new game in almost 40 years

To celebrate the arrival of Truxton Extreme, Clear River Games and Tatsujin put out a launch trailer. This marks the first new entry in the shooter series in almost four decades.

Celebrating the triumphant return of the iconic Truxton series, Truxton Extreme is an all-new entry in the series, the first new Truxton title in 38 years! With the arcade original debuting in 1988, Truxton quickly cemented its legacy as one of the genre greats thanks to its bombastic weaponry and adrenaline fuelled gameplay.
Returning for the first time with fully rendered 3D graphics and mind-blowing boss battles, original Truxton mastermind Masahiro Yuge, once again evolves the genre, presenting a new take on a solid-gold classic.
Truxton Extreme features multiple game modes for fans old and new alike:
- Story – Combining action and comics, Story Mode takes players through the main game of Truxton Extreme to unlock episodes, read comics and clear shmup stages.
- Arcade – In true arcade style Arcade Mode is pure unrelenting action in which players clear all stages in sequence.
- Heart Starter – A more forgiving mode, Heart Starter is recommended for beginners to get used to the game. Players will recover from enemy hits in a few seconds and won’t lose lives, even if they make mistakes.
- Team – Take on the Geranium invasion together! Team Mode allows two-player co-op, sharing their bombs, their lives and their scores. Players can rescue each other too.
- Arena – A 2-minute time trial, Arena Mode sets the challenge of defeating as many enemies as possible to get the highest score.
- Pipiruville – Defeat enemies during the game to rescue Pipiru aliens, keep at it and players will unlock Pipiruville and develop their village. Check in and see them!
