Tom Brady has quietly established himself as a giant in the <a href="https://comicvibe.com/russian-woman-faces-36000-fine-over-harry-potter-collectible-coins/” title=”Russian Woman Faces $36,000 Fine Over Harry Potter Collectible Coins”>collectibles space. He acquired a 50% stake in CardVault, a retailer in the sports card and collectibles space with over 100,000 followers on Instagram alone.

In 2021, he also co-founded ‘Autograph’, a platform that looked to digitize athletes’ signatures during the NFT boom. Following the rapid collapse of the NFT space, Brady and the company rebranded to better cater to media.

With these ventures in mind, it’s clear that the seven-time Super Bowl champ has an undying passion for this industry.

This was on full display when he appeared on the Dude Perfect podcast “Almost Athletes.” Here, he spoke about how he’s found a way to give back to fans when they purchase collectibles featuring him.

“I’m always a buyer of my own cards,” said Brady to Tyler while holding TB12 cards that Tyler owns. “I make pretty good money, so I can afford it. But, you know, I’m probably the biggest investor in my own cards.”

After claiming he already has the cards he’s holding, he said he’s “always looking for more.” He continued by saying, “I love giving them as gifts to people. That’s what I love doing. So, I collect a lot of my own. I sign them. I personalize them.”

He rejected the notion that a graded card that subsequently gets signed loses its value. “No, it increases the value a lot. It just makes it more rare.”

Tom Brady Is Right About the Worth of Autographed Cards

The 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship Rookie Ticket #144 Tom Brady Rookie Autographcard sold in June 2021 for a record $3.1 million at auction, making it the most expensive Brady card of all time.

The card’s worth was destined to enter the seven-figure mark given its significance. However, the autograph pushed its value over the edge, and thus, the record was set.

Another version of this same card, graded an 8.5, sold mere months earlier in April 2021 and set the previous record for the most expensive Brady card of all time, selling for $2,252,854.

Stepping away from Brady’s autographed cards, the most expensive sporting card that has ever sold at auction is one that was autographed by the athletes featured on it.

The 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autographs card featuring Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant sold for a record-smashing $12.9 million.

It’s clear, with a few examples, that Brady’s philosophy on signing cards will remain intact. It is also incredibly heartwarming to hear that he simply gives cards of such value away as gifts whenever he feels like it.
