This Catherine Zeta-Jones Revenge Thriller Is the Most Underrated Show of the Month

She’s got an Oscar. She’s got a Tony. She’s got a BAFTA. And now, she’s got a serious desire for revenge. I’m, of course, talking about Catherine Zeta-Jones, the star of one of the best shows on TV right now—a show that somehow seems to be flying under everyone’s radar.

As an entertainment editor, I take in a lot of content, but I can honestly say that the AMC+ thriller Kill Jackie is the most underrated show on streaming right now. The Zeta-Jones-led series is absolutely a must-watch. And while it may end up on my best shows of 2026 list later this year, it most certainly will be on my best shows of October 2026 list.

Here, why you need to be watching—and talking about

The brand-new series, which debuted on October 2, is based on novel The Price You Pay by author Nick Harkaway (under the pen name Aiden Truhen). The The show follows Jackie (Zeta-Jones), a wealthy, high-end art dealer who happens to be hiding a not-so-high-end past (think drugs, danger and lots of bad guys). Unfortunately for Jackie, someone disrupts her new life by hiring the deadly Seven Demons hit-squad to, well, “kill Jackie.”

First of all, as a longtime fan of Zeta-Jones, I’ve got to say that this part feels very different for her. She’s been in action-thrillers (like Entrapment) and drug films (like Traffic) before, but this particular role shows a new side of the actress. She delivers a performance that is greatly nuanced—at once funny and deadly, caring and not willing to take any bullshit. Her character, who is clearly capable of some pretty terrible things, has a subdued energy that makes her easy to empathize with and root for.

The show is fast-paced, thankfully, and there are a lot of twists. The first major turn occurs about 10 minutes into the premiere episode, and things do not slow down from there.

Most importantly, Kill Jackie is really fun to watch. It reminds me immensely of another favorite show of mine, Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen starring Theo James. Similar to the James Netflix show, Kill Jackie has a fun sense of humor to it, even though it’s clearly a thriller. Both series involve the worlds of drugs, gangsters and murder. And both feature a very high-low universe in which the extremely rich aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.

Oh, and Kill Jackie also happens to costar one of my favorite actors from The Gentlemen, Daniel Ings, as Jackie’s nervous and at times bumbling lawyer.

The bad guys in this new series are super enjoyable as well. Similar to movies featuring a league of bad guys like Kill Bill, the AMC+ show boasts seven villains (the Seven Demons) who Jackie describes as “psychopaths” who truly enjoy their jobs (you know, being killers).

So why aren’t more people talking about Kill Jackie? It’s hard to say. Perhaps people aren’t as well versed with the selections on AMC+ yet (though they may soon be talking about it after the new Hudson Williams show hits the streamer in a matter of days). Regardless, I highly recommend giving this hidden gem a serious shot.

New Kill Jackie episodes drop each Friday on AMC+.
