Yigsoft, who is working with CD Projekt Red on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, has spoke about the work that went into the Nintendo Switch 2 version.

Back when we saw The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch, many initially viewed it as a miracle port. Especially when that system first came out, very few had imagined the open world RPG being a possibility for that platform. We did get a pretty serviceable port in the end, especially given the limited hardware. However, there’s no denying that it wasn’t on the same level as other consoles.

The Witcher 3 Remastered is now giving CD Projekt Red another crack at a Nintendo version of the game. And this time around, it sounds like things will be different.

Yigsoft, CD Projekt Red’s development partner, said during a Gamescom event last week that the team went into working on the project with mindset of not wanting the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3 Remastered to have any tradeoffs. Ultimately, Yigsoft believes they were able to deliver on that.

    The studio’s technical architect said:

“We had Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch 1, and there were a lot of tradeoffs to make the game work on that platform. We were like, let’s not have those tradeoffs. Let’s start from the beginning – from the PC version – and implement that on the Switch 2 because we have such better hardware with Switch 2. We didn’t have to do a lot of tradeoffs with Switch 2.”

The Witcher 3 Remastered is arriving for Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29, 2026. You can get a first look at gameplay on the console here.
