October might be winding down, but the Halloween fun is far from over. All month long, we’ve been immersing ourselves in horror even more than we do the rest of the year, while casual audiences are more willing to spend some time in unsettling realms to get into the spirit of the season.
Throwing on a horror movie is one way to get your fix of terror, as a complete journey into the macabre can be completed within two hours. With a horror TV show, however, the tension is stretched across multiple hours, making for a prolonged sense of unease that can keep us on the edge of our seats for days. While there are plenty of horror movies that are dominating streaming services, a number of 2026 horror series have also been climbing the ranks in recent months.
Over at JustWatch, the service that alerts you to the availability of movies and TV shows available on streaming platforms, the most popular 2026 streaming horror and thriller series for Halloween have been revealed. The top 10 are as follows:
- Widow’s Bay(Season 1) — Apple TV
- FROM(Season 4) — MGM+
- Carrie(Season 1) — Prime Video
- American Horror Story(Season 13) — Hulu
- Crystal Lake(Season 1) — Peacock
- Below(Season 1) — Netflix
- The Beauty(Season 1) — Hulu
- YAGA(Season 1) — AMC+
- Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen(Season 1) — Netflix
- The Vampire Lestat(Season 3) — AMC+ / Prime Video
Widow’s Bay has become one of the year’s biggest surprises. Created by Parks and Recreationalum Katie Dippoldand starring Matthew Rhys, there was plenty to be excited about, though no one was prepared for just how hilarious and frightening a show about an island community off the coast of New England plagued by otherworldly forces could be. The series didn’t only appeal to genre fans, as it went on to score a record-breaking 14 Emmy Awards, the most ever for a single season of a comedy series.
FROM, meanwhile, has slowly but surely amassed a devoted fan base, as proven by the fact that even on a niche service like MGM+, the story of travelers getting trapped in small town has become one of the most popular shows of the year. A new Mike Flanagan show is always something worth celebrating, as is a new Stephen King series, so the two creatives uniting on Carrie has understandably made it a strong performer on streaming.
Ryan Murphy has been a major force in genre TV for years, so it’s no surprise that two of his 2026 series, American Horror Story and The Beauty, both landed in the top 10. Just weeks after its debut, the Friday the 13thprequel series Crystal Lake has become one of Peacock’s most popular series, while Netflix’s Below has also quickly gained prominence in just the few short weeks on the platform.
Two AMC series have made their way into the top 10, courtesy of YAGA and The Vampire Lestat, and even though Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen debuted all the way back in January, clearly fans still can’t stop thinking about it.
