    • Marvel Comics is launching a new series of Punisher one-shots where Frank Castle will face off against popular heroes like Black Widow, Wolverine, and Winter Soldier.
    • The first issue of the series, Punisher Showdowns: Black Widow #1, is set to be released in October 2026, with subsequent issues featuring Wolverine and Winter Soldier coming in November and December.
    • Writer Tom Waltz and artist Greg Land are teaming up to showcase intense and action-filled conflicts between the Punisher and other Marvel Universe characters in these oversized one-shot adventures.

The Punisher will fight Black Widow, Wolverine, and one more Marvel hero in a brand new comic series. Marvel Comics just revealed an exciting new look at Frank Castle’s action-filled, intense adventure.

What is the new Marvel Punisher project?

Marvel has announced a brand-new series of Punisher one-shots, from writer Tom Waltz, that will see him collide with popular heroes including Black Widow, Wolverine, and even Winter Soldier.

According to the official description, “The streets of the Marvel Universe are set to explode this October as the Punisher comes face-to-face with some of Marvel’s most dangerous heroes! Beginning with Punisher Showdowns: Black Widow #1, writer Tom Waltz (Marvel Zombies: War Zone) and artist Greg Land (All-Out Avengers) are showcasing previously untold conflicts between Frank Castle and other members of the Marvel Universe in a series of oversized one-shots.”

The new series will begin with a mission where Black Widow and Frank Castle will cross paths, but not in a friendly way. If the Punisher survives this battle, he will then have to go against Wolverine, followed by the Winter Soldier.

“Landing the Punisher Showdowns gig right on the heels of my work on Marvel Zombies: War Zone is far from a punishment, let me tell you!” said Waltz while speaking on the upcoming series.

“I get to showcase untold Punisher missions, culling from some of my favorite Marvel lore, and featuring three other fascinating superheroes with dark histories: Black Widow, Wolverine, and Winter Soldier,” he added, teasing the one-shot adventures.

The new Punisher series of one-shots will kick off with Punisher Showdowns: Black Widow #1 in October 2026. Fans can preorder the comic book at their local comic shop. Issues featuring Wolverine and the Winter Soldier will go on sale in November and December, respectively.
