UPtv announced this week that their Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries will return for a second season in 2027. The first season “reached 1.8 million viewers and ranked as a Top 20ad-supported cable series in HH and W18+, Nielsen.” Also, part of this announcement is the returning cast of Galadriel Stineman, Denise Gossett, Kevin Joy and Riley Beeson. The presser also makes note that this is a renewal that is working towards expanding “UPtv’s growing slate of original scripted programming.”
The show, which I did watch one or two episodes is a cozy mystery series that goes heavy on the cozy vs the mystery and is about a woman who moves to a small community after living a faster-paced city life.
Reporting says that in 2027, filming will begin on a “limited” Cluelessseries with Alicia Silverstone. The series has been greenlit to stream on Paramount+. Originally, it was going to be Peacock.
Acorn TV renewed their drama Art Detectives.Stephen Moyer led the season one cast and will return for this second season. Moyer also EP’s the drama which is about the Heritage Crime Unit which is “a police department consisting of art-loving DI Mick Palmer and straight-talking DC Shazia Malik. Together, they navigate a rich and colorful world driven by greed, obsession, lust, and revenge to solve murders connected to the world of art and antiques.” (- via AMC Global Meida) Nina Singh also co-stars as Shazia.
LIST | THE ‘RANSOM CANYON’ LOVE STORY OF STATEN AND QUINN
Last weekend, Prime Video dropped trailers for the fourth season of Reacher coming later this year and the first season of its spin off Neagley. Season four of Reacherwill begin August 12 and is based on the 13thReachernovel and is set to be a story about “a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a subway goes horribly wrong, Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) is drawn into a complex and deadly game that pits him against ruthless foes from the highest echelons of power.” (via Amazon MGM Studios) Trailer is below.
Neagley will be a binge drop and is about Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley who, in this first season is about her working as “a private investigator in Chicago and former military protege of Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice.” (via Amazon MGM Studios) This show will drop on September 16, right after Reacherwraps its season. If you are looking for some of the new-to-streaming titles you can watch this weekend, there is Paris is Always a Good Idea on Hallmark+; Ransom Canyon which dropped last week on Netflix; or The Drama, a dark comedy that is finally on HBO Max. Finally, in exciting period drama news, the second season of The Hardacres will drop on the regular side of BritBox on August 5.
