The Next Influencer Trying to Sell You Something on TikTok… Might Not Even Be Human.

    Imagine you’re scrolling through TikTok.

You stop on a live stream.

    A creator is smiling.

    Answering questions.

Showing off a new pair of sneakers.

Explaining why you should buy them.

    Everything feels completely normal.

    That influencer doesn’t exist.

    No camera.

    No studio.

    No person behind the screen.

    Just artificial intelligence.

That could become part of your daily feed.

TikTok is currently exploring a future where brands can create fully AI-generated virtual influencers to host live-shopping sessions.

    Not digital assistants.

    Not chatbots.

    Actual on-screen presenters.

    Talking.

    Smiling.

    Reacting.

    Twenty-four hours a day.

    Without ever getting tired.

    It’s already happening.

On Douyin, TikTok’s Chinese version, AI live-shopping has become a massive business.

The platform generated hundreds of billions of dollars in shopping transactions, and AI-powered virtual hosts are becoming increasingly common. Some can sell products around the clock, answer customer questions instantly and keep a live broadcast running without breaks.

    Think about what that means.

    A human influencer has limits.

    They need sleep.

    Food.

    Vacations.

    A voice.

    An AI influencer?

    Can livestream forever.

    Three in the morning.

    Sunday afternoon.

    Christmas Day.

It never asks for a day off.

And that’s exactly why brands are interested.

    Lower production costs.

    Unlimited availability.

    Perfect consistency.

Every product demonstration is exactly the way they want it.

But here’s where things get really interesting.

    Will you even know?

Because AI avatars are becoming more realistic every month.

    Natural facial expressions.

    Convincing voices.

    Real-time conversations.

You might not immediately realize you’re talking to a virtual presenter.

    That’s why this story matters.

Not because AI influencers are replacing every creator tomorrow.

But because they raise a new question.

Who are you really trusting online?

Influencer marketing worked because people believed there was a real person behind the recommendation.

    Someone with opinions.

    Experiences.

    Mistakes.

Now imagine discovering your favorite shopping livestream is hosted by software.

Would you trust it the same way?

    Maybe.

    Maybe not.

And that’s exactly the debate beginning across the industry.

    Some people won’t care.

    If the information is useful…

    The presenter doesn’t matter.

Others argue that transparency is everything.

    If an influencer is artificial…

Viewers should know before deciding to buy anything.

Especially younger audiences, who already spend hours every day on platforms where the line between reality and digital creation keeps getting blurrier.

This technology hasn’t become mainstream yet.

    But if it succeeds elsewhere…

It probably won’t stay abroad for long.

Because social media trends travel incredibly fast.

    The creators you follow tomorrow…

The AI influencers selling products next year…

They often begin somewhere else before quietly appearing in your own feed.

Maybe that’s the biggest shift of all.

The future of influencer marketing may not be finding bigger creators.

It may be creating them from scratch.

    No birthdays.

    No scandals.

    No schedules.

    No human at all.

If an AI influencer can entertain you, answer your questions and convince you to buy a product just as well as a real creator… does it matter whether the person on your screen actually exists?
