It’s time. Experience The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2!
Draw near, dear travelers, for you are about to hear a timeless tale. Of when a wise and kind princess escaped her castle in the cover of rain and night. When a powerful warrior unleashed his vile ambitions across an entire kingdom. And when a courageous hero fought back with a mastery over time itself…
An epic journey returns
That’s right, all! The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time game is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system! On his quest to stop the evil Ganondorf, Link (and his fairy companion, Navi) will explore the kingdom of Hyrule, venture into dungeons to acquire weapons, and use their combined smarts to solve tricky puzzles.
(Oh, and did we mention that you’ll be doing this across two different time periods using time-travel powers? Why yes, you will!)
Don’t worry if you’ve never played a Legend of Zelda game before or have only played the most recent ones—this is a great jumping off point to learn what the series is all about.
Built from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2
The original tale first debuted on the Nintendo 64™ system way back in 1998 and…a lot has changed since then.
This new version of the game has completely overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, reworked camera and movement controls, and more. You can challenge powerful enemies again in the Hall of Fallen Foes, and search for fairy thoughts scattered across Hyrule to learn fun little tidbits. Please check out the trailers below to get a better idea of what the game looks like in motion.
So, I don’t need to play the previous games first?
Nope!
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a standalone adventure, and it’s also a great intro to what the series is all about—a combo of action, exploration, puzzle solving, epic storylines, memorable characters/music, and…treasure chest opening. You’ll climb to the volcanic tops of Death Mountain and dive to the watery depths of Zora Domain. You’ll meet mysterious warriors like Sheik and Impa and learn of the Triforce. It’s a classic fight between good and evil.
Passing time with a song
Music plays a big role, too. You’ll use Link’s ocarina to manipulate the world around you—from changing night into day to calling your trusty steed, Epona. If you’re feeling extra musical, the built-in microphone on your system also lets you play the in-game ocarina by humming or playing your own instrument.
And of course, you’ll also be playing as both young Link and adult Link in two separate time periods. How does Hyrule change between the two periods? Well…that would be a spoiler…
