The James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough is in development for Nintendo Switch 2, System 3 has announced. A release is planned for October.

The James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough features twelve versions of four entries in the series. There will also be an interactive hub, a new song, and more.

First details can be found in the following overview:

Bringing together 12 versions of four classic James Pond games, the collection spans the Amiga 500, SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and Commodore 64. With a production run limited to no more than 6,000 physical copies, the collection gives longtime fans and newly recruited agents the opportunity to own a tangible piece of James Pond history.

The James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough features four beloved titles: James Pond: Underwater Agent, James Pond 2: RoboCod, James Pond 3: Operation Starfish, and The Aquatic Games Starring James Pond and the Aquabats.

The different versions included in the collection preserve the distinctive visuals, audio, and gameplay of the original releases, offering a deep dive into the history of gaming’s most charming secret-agent fish.

    • Four Games, 12 Classic Versions – Experience James Pond: Underwater Agent, James Pond 2: RoboCod, James Pond 3: Operation Starfish, and The Aquatic Games, spanning the Amiga 500, SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and Commodore 64.
    • Preserved for the Nintendo Switch 2 – The limited physical collector’s release brings James Pond’s classic missions to a Nintendo Switch 2 game card.
    • Dive into the Pondverse – Explore an interactive hub filled with character profiles, hero and villain biographies, franchise history, level information, original packaging, and a comprehensive series timeline.
    • An All-New Original Song – The game’s trailer features “Maybe,” an original studio-recorded title track inspired by Dr Maybe. The song is planned for release on Spotify and Apple Music ahead of the game’s launch in October.
    • Classic Action, Modern Conveniences – Enjoy multiple save-as-you-play slots, controller rumble, adjustable scanlines, in-game audio controls, and custom bezels.
    • Localized for International Agents – Navigate the collection in English, French, Italian, German, or Spanish.

The collection also introduces the all-new Pondverse, an interactive hub that brings characters, villains, bosses, games, and memorable locations from throughout James Pond history together for the first time.

Players can dive deeper into the franchise through detailed character profiles, biographies of its heroes and villains, insights into the games and their iconic levels, and newly crafted 3D artwork inspired by the original pixel art. The Pondverse also features authentic box and packaging artwork alongside a comprehensive timeline charting the evolution of the series.

First introduced in 1990, James Pond combined colorful platforming with playful secret-agent parody, sending its unlikely aquatic hero on imaginative assignments across home computers and consoles. More than three decades later, The James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough preserves that history while preparing Pond for his next mission.

System 3 founder and CEO Mark Cale said today: “James Pond has never been an ordinary hero, and this was never going to be an ordinary collection. This release is about preserving the different versions, soundtracks, artwork, and unmistakable personality that shaped the series, while making them enjoyable for players today. With the new Pondverse and a limited physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition, longtime fans and new recruits can explore the complete legacy of James Pond like never before.”
