Roblox Shares Economic Impact Across Five Continents

    • We’re releasing our annual U.S. Economic Impact Report, as well as economic impact reports across five continents, underscoring our impact in a number of global high-growth markets.
    • Many of the creators behind the games and content on Roblox are building businesses and earning real income every day.
    • On a global scale, Roblox is driving opportunities in areas outside of traditional tech-focused economies, reinforcing our goal of making content creation accessible from anywhere in the world.

Today, we’re releasing our annual economic impact reports to demonstrate the effect Roblox has as a global economic engine. The creators behind the games, avatars, and accessories on Roblox live all around the world, many far from cities where gaming and technology jobs are common. The Roblox platform fuels a robust creator economy where people earn real income from the games and items they create. In 2025, Roblox creators earned over $1.5 billion,1 surpassing 2024’s total of $923 million and exemplifying the growing opportunity for millions of creators to build thriving businesses.

In the U.S. alone, from 2017 to 2025, Roblox generated a cumulative estimated GDP impact of $2.37 billion. And in 2025, U.S. creators generated a total GDP impact of $752 million, an increase of 69% over 2024. In 2025, the company supported nearly 12,000 full-time job equivalents2(FTEs) globally, across studied markets worldwide. That number continues to grow as more creators in all regions discover the platform and begin earning.3

Empowering a New Generation of Entrepreneurs

Roblox is committed to giving young people opportunities to learn coding, design, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through hands-on building. Through Roblox Studio, creators can develop and monetize games and items using free, beginner-friendly tools that don’t require advanced coding knowledge or a formal degree. We also support learning through in-person and online events globally. This year, we sponsored the Congressional App Challenge in the U.S. and partnered with Savvy Games and the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education for the inaugural Play to Learn competition. We partnered with U.K. nonprofit Digital Schoolhouse to provide resources for classroom educators and hosted in-person events in various cities across Brazil, Indonesia, and Japan.

To enable long-term creator success, we continually optimize and add to the tools and features that facilitate game development and monetization. This year, Roblox introduced Build, a new mobile-first creation tab within the Roblox app, which is now in public beta in New Zealand, Serbia, and Singapore. With Build, anyone can turn text prompts into a basic starter game, then iterate with Build or in Studio. We’re also testing a new suite of AI-powered tools within Studio that creators of any level can use to optimize and accelerate their workflow.

We’re investing in the next generation of creator talent through programs like Jumpstart, which helps new and experienced creators explore the platform. We also provide Incubator, a six-month, milestone-driven program, to help ambitious teams refine promising concepts into polished, scalable games. Together, these programs strengthen the connection between skills development and economic impact, giving creators the tools, expertise, community connections, and support to move from early idea to a game that can reach a global audience.

    Economic Impact Across the U.S.

Map showing U.S. state-level GDP distribution

This year’s U.S. Economic Impact Report was conducted by Nordicity, a leading economic analysis firm. Key findings include:

    • U.S.-based Roblox creators generated a total GDP impact of $752 million in 2025, an increase of 69% over 2024.
    • The U.S. accounted for 7,525 FTEs, an increase of 55% over 2024.
    • Of the creators surveyed, 83% operate as individual creators rather than established studios, underscoring the opportunity for individual entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses on the platform.
    • Nordicity determined that 66% of payments to creators in 2025 (nearly $444 million) went to areas where the concentration of tech workers was lower than the national average, showing that Roblox creates opportunities across many different communities in the U.S.

Of the creators surveyed, 83% operate as individual creators rather than established studios, underscoring the opportunity for individual entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses on the platform.

North Carolina-based creator Henry Hollyday has been on Roblox since 2008 and began developing games two years later. Hollyday taught himself to code using the free tools available in Roblox Studio. He completed his computer science degree while running HD Games, the studio behind popular games Treasure Hunt Simulator and Saber Simulator.

“Roblox opened the door for me to start making games and earning a living from them,” Hollyday said. In addition to coding, he says marketing is one of the most valuable skills he’s learned building a business on the platform.

Not all Roblox creators are building their business around games. Creator Rush Bogin began building simple games on Roblox as a child in Colorado. At just 13, he joined Roblox’s User Generated Content (UGC) Creator Program, where he began designing avatar accessories and hairstyles using specialized 3D design and texturing tools. Through Roblox’s UGC creator community and touchpoints like Roblox’s Developers Conference and peer mentorship, Rush has also built consulting relationships. Those include major brands looking to build a presence on Roblox, such as Adidas, Walmart, Karlie Kloss, and Olivia Rodrigo. Now 21, Bogin runs his business, Rush X, almost entirely on revenue generated within Roblox, and it includes a virtual streetwear line, CHRUSH, that he co-founded with fellow UGC creator Bunnexh.

“Building a brand, managing partnerships, even handling taxes—there’s so much I’ve learned about running a business that I never expected to learn just from creating on Roblox,” Bogin said. He learned these skills and more on the job—and they are directly transferable to entrepreneurship and employment beyond the platform.

    Global Reach in High-Growth Markets

Roblox’s economic benefits reach well beyond the U.S., into Australia, Mexico, the European Union (EU), and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Findings from several of these regions are below. Full reports for all regions are available here.

    European Union

In the EU, Roblox’s GDP impact between 2020 and 2025 was 304.2 million euros. In that same five-year period, the number of creators eligible to receive payouts from Roblox increased by 70% annually—illustrating the accessibility of Roblox’s creation tools.

Across the EU, 84% of creators surveyed said their time on Roblox increased their interest in pursuing a career in game development, and 75% have gone on to receive job opportunities in the gaming industry. And it’s not just technical skills they’re learning on Roblox. Surveyed users in the EU said the most common skills they’ve gained through Roblox are creativity (38%), communication (36%), and problem solving (35%)—all scoring higher than game design or coding. These are among the soft skills that employers today are looking for.

The MENA region saw 83% annual growth in the number of creators eligible to receive payouts from Roblox between 2020 and 2025. In that same five-year period, Roblox’s GDP contribution in MENA was $46.5 million. That impact has grown at 101% annually from 2020 to 2025. And the number of FTEs supported has grown by 97% annually over the same five-year period.

UAE-based creator Cryptic_Desire runs one of the most successful creator businesses in the MENA region, with more than 30 million virtual avatar items sold. Their business is run entirely through Roblox, with no need for traditional distribution channels or physical infrastructure. In fact, at the 2025 World Governments Summit, Roblox CEO David Baszucki mentioned Cryptic_Desire as a flagship example of the robust creator economy in the Middle East.

    Mexico

In Mexico, Roblox’s GDP impact was $15.5 million USD ($292.2 million MXN). The number of creators eligible to receive payouts from Roblox increased 84% annually from 2020 to 2025, thanks to Roblox’s easy-to-use tools and growing enthusiasm among Mexican creators. The total payouts received by eligible creators in that same five-year period increased 63% annually, showing that those creators are building businesses on Roblox. In addition, these young entrepreneurs are developing critical STEAM and business management skills, defining new career paths, and contributing directly to their local economies.

Mexico-based creator Rodrigo Pedroche started building on Roblox when he was 14, teaching himself game design, scripting, and animation entirely through experimentation and community rellion visits worldwide, and his games attract players from the U.S., Europe, and Asia. His projects include some of the platform’s most widely played experiences, including Da Hood and Deep Descent

Roblox is dedicated to continuing to provide creators with the rependent creators to established studios, our platform supports entrepreneurial growth around the globe, and we are constantly investing in new tools, programs, and opportunities to help our community turn their imagination into immersive shared experiences and real-world impact

    1DAU as of Q2 2026.

2Roblox does not employ creators. Full-time job equivalents are calculated on a cumulative basis in person years, based on direct, indirect, and induced impact, and the average wage in the relevant locale.

3Our creator ecosystem includes many hobbyists. Of the millions of creators monetizing on Roblox, over 42,000 are part of our DevEx program, with the median creator receiving approximately $1,500 USD during the 12 months ended June 30, 2026.
