The Absolute DC Universe & the DC Universe will meet in 2027 or 2028, says Scott Snyder… and he doesn’t mean Batman of Two Worlds

Scott Snyder says the Absolute Universe is meeting the DC Universe, but fans shouldn’t panic.

Fans who have been awaiting a big crossover between the main DC Universe and the Absolute Universe won’t have to wait much longer, as Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder states that the two universes will collide in 2027 and 2028 – but he also urges fans not to worry, as the crossover won’t change any of the things they like about either line or interrupt their stories.

“Oh, sure. Yeah. I mean, eventually we have a story where these universes have to meet, and it’s coming in 2027 into 2028, but I want to be very clear it is not going to interfere with the Absolute Universe or really the books you love in the main universe,” Snyder explains in an interview with YouTuber Charli Romero at La Mole 2026. “And it is definitely not in any way going to end the Absolute Universe. The Absolute Universe will continue as long as people love it and are reading it.”

This would be unrelated to the upcoming Batman of Two Worlds, in which Absolute Batman and Batman will have seperate stories showing how they solve the same kind of mystery differently.

Snyder goes on to expound that he’s planned out at least 45 issues of Absolute Batman, meaning there’s little chance of the title and its surrounding line to go anywhere anytime soon, especially considering the critical and financial success of the Absolute Universe.

At the same time, Snyder and company are prepping the first big crossover of the Absolute Universe, bringing together Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and many more of an event series that Snyder says will greatly expand the alt-reality setting. Beyond that, the writer says that the Absolute Universe and mainstream DC Universe will come together in 2027 and 2028, though he also assures fans that the Absolute Universe will not change as a result of the story, nor will it mark the end of the Absolute Universe.

“There’s a lot of expansion in the event that Jason is doing, which will also expand the universe a lot. That, obviously, is about these characters meeting, coming up against a big threat, the proxy to the Justice League essentially, which is the villains in our universe,” Snyder previously stated. “So how do they go up against them? They have to find a different way than you’d expect, and that brings in a lot of characters that are kind of hiding in the shadows, good and bad. There’s a lot of expansion into 2026 and 2027 even if the line itself stays modest in the number of books.”

DC’s Absolute Universe continues monthly, with Absolute Catwoman being the latest title to join the line.
