Tank Chair is based on the manga written and illustrated by Manabu Yashiro. It began serialisation on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website and app in November 2022.
Studio Polygon Pictures is producing the anime, with Tadahiro Yoshihira and Hiroaki Ando directing. Yoshihira is also handling the series composition, while Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.
Kodansha, which publishes the manga in English, describes the story as follows:
Living on Guicheng Island, called “the most dangerous town in the universe,” is no easy task. Genetic doping is common for gangs to gain ultimate power. Shizuka, a young girl, takes on the most dangerous assassin jobs, but she’s not the one doing the killing. Rather, it’s her brother, Nagi, a legendary assassin who took a bullet to protect his sister, leaving him in a comatose state and confined to a wheelchair. Shizuka eventually discovers the key to waking him up: he must be faced with murderous intent. Thus begins a violent journey of recovery against the island’s deadliest foes.
