Ghost in the Shell has always been fascinated by what happens when technology fundamentally changes what it means to be human. From cybernetic bodies and computerised brains to artificial intelligence and global networks, Masamune Shirow’s manga imagined a future in which the boundary between humanity and technology had become increasingly difficult to define.
