A Fort Myers man was arrested on Monday after he was accused of burglarizing a variety of items from two victims’ homes and then pawning some, including two PlayStation 5s and speakers, in Lee County.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office’s arrest report, Wesley Devon Shaw, 42, was arrested after he was linked to two separate burglaries.

The report states that the first victim told deputies he returned from work to find his rear sliding glass door had been smashed on July 31. The victim reported that his PlayStation 5, Apple iPad, Meta VR headset and cash had been stolen, which was about $6,300. In addition, the sliding door was estimated to be at least $500 in damages.

On Aug. 3, the victim told deputies a planter pot was used to break the door, and more property had been stolen, according to the report. This included an iPhone 11 and iPad 11 gen.

On Aug. 18, detectives were able to search and linked Shaw to reportedly pawning multiple items that belonged to the victim at a shop on US-41 in Fort Myers, including a PS5 with cords, PS5 white controller, Xbox One controller, Cressi knife in case, red portable JBL speaker, Fender acoustic guitar and a Meta VR with controllers and charger, the report noted. Another shop, this one on Homestead Road North in Lehigh Acres, also had a dragon handle sword with a red stone and black cover reportedly pawned.

That same day, another victim reached out to the sheriff’s office to report a burglary of a home. The second victim told deputies her father called to say the front door had been pried open, and the report states detectives saw marks that supported that on the door.

A white PS5 Slim valued at $534.99, a pair of black Air Force Ones shoes valued at $450, a pair of leather woven Converse shoes valued at $95.50 and a package of clothing valued at $356.57 were all reportedly stolen from the victim’s home, according to the report.

The next day, the victim told deputies more stuff was stolen from her home, including a Bosi wrench, hammer, tape plier, black toolbox, women’s clothing and a Tzumi Super Bass Jobsite Speaker, the report states.

At the same shop on US-41, Shaw was accused of pawning a PS5 Slim with controller and power cord, a Bosi toolbox and a portable speaker by Tzumi that belonged to the victim, LCSO said.

After conducting interviews and reviewing videos and transactions, Shaw was identified as the suspect, the report said. In addition, both victims confirmed the items at the pawn shop belonged to them, with detectives sending photos.

Shaw was arrested and he faces multiple charges including giving false owner information or false verification during a pawn transaction under $300, criminal mischief – property damage under $200, burglary of an unoccupied dwelling unarmed, dealing in stolen property and larceny – grand theft of a property dwelling/curtilage from $40-$750.
