Steve Ditko’s nephew, Mark Ditko, to appear on tonight’s The Experience livestream
Steve Ditko‘s nephew, Mark Ditko, will appear on tonight’s The Experience livestream at 7pm EST, 4pm EST, and midnight BST, in the wake of the new Spider-Man movie, whichFrank Miller has described as the most Ditko-est movie on the screen.
It also comes as Steve Ditko: Beyond The Myth, is now streaming worldwide on YouTube, available here, including Mark, friend and colleague Jack C. Harris, correspondent and student of DitkoWord Balloon Podcast, all intended to amend the record concerning Mr Ditko and beliefs concerning his life and work
And they will be selling original art from across Spider-Man‘s history, including Mary Jane Watson and Punisher pages… none by Steve Ditko, of course, but you can’t have everything.

I note that Mark Ditko may not be Bleeding Cool’s biggest fan after this, this and this, but it will always be interesting to hear what he has to say, especially right now. Mark Ditko is the son of Steve Ditko’s younger brother and is also Steve’s godson, but was only aware of his uncle as a relative from New York City who sketched for him. He discovered Steve Ditko’s career and fame in comics in the nineties, reconnected with him and describes Steve as a private person with a strong work ethic who preferred his art to speak for itself, rather than the popular image of a bitter recluse. Mark has been active in preserving and promoting his uncle’s legacy, especially after Steve’s death in 2018, participating in interviews, panels, and later discussions about Steve’s life, philosophy, characters like Mr A, and family perspectives. He wrote the foreword “Uncle Steve” for the 2020 book Ditko Shrugged: The Uncompromising Life of the Artist-Creator of Spider-Man and the Rise of Marvel Comics by David Currie, and has supported exhibitions and events celebrating his uncle’s life, crowdfunding for high-quality reprints and restorations of Steve Ditko’s work.
