Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu finally arrived on Disney+ today, bringing the new galactic adventure to home audiences. Surprisingly, the streaming debut comes with a new TV show that gives an inside look at how the film was made.

The series is titled Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu Official Podcast. It was filmed directly on the original movie’s Adelphi Base Bar set. Filmmaker Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni host the dynamic show. On-screen stars Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver join the conversation, alongside composer Ludwig Göransson and Grogu himself.

The original film premiered on May 22, 2026, in theaters and received mixed reviews from critics. As of now, it holds a 60% Tomatometer score and an 86% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. At the box office, the movie grossed more than $345 million against a $165 production budget

What fans will learn from The Mandalorian & Grogu Official Podcast

The podcast contains two episodes, titled “Growing Up” and “Bigger & Different.” The podcast offers a deeper look at the creative choices that shaped the film behind the scenes.

Favreau and Filoni discuss the making of the film while reflecting on its place within the larger Star Wars universe. Their discussion offers creative insights into practical effects, including Dave Filoni’s work with the puppet unit.

The lead cast also shares set stories, insights into the score, and how they built this new chapter in the long-running franchise. Grogu joins the conversation too, adding his own charm to the show.

Alongside the original movie and its podcast, Disney+ is also releasing a LEGO animated special that revisits the three seasons of The Mandalorian series.

The video episodes will launch on Disney+ on September 2, 2026, at 6 PM PT. Viewers can also watch them on YouTube, while audio-only versions will be out on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pandora, Amazon Music, SiriusXM, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn.
