Satoshi Mizukami’s Spirit Circlemanga is getting an 18-episode anime adaptation. On November 5, 2026, REMOW informed the SoapCentral anime team that the anime will premiere in December 2026 in both Japan and worldwide. A teaser visual, a teaser trailer, the main cast, the main staff, and the ending theme were unveiled in the same announcement.
An exact premiere date has not been disclosed. No broadcast station, streaming platform, or weekly time slot has been named, and it is unclear as of yet which services will carry the series.
Spirit Circle anime set to be Tatsuo Sato’s final work
The teaser visual was shown first, with Kouko Ishigami drawn with a wound on her forehead and the tagline (translated from Japanese):
“No matter how many times I’m reborn, I’ll come to kill you.”
A teaser trailer followed, opening with Kouko asking Fuuta Okeya whether he believes in reincarnation.
Four main voice actors for Spirit Circle anime were confirmed. Kazuki Ura (Yoichi Isagi in Blue Lock) plays Fuuta Okeya, a middle school student who can see spirits. Anna Nagase (Riko Amanai in Jujutsu Kaisen) plays Kouko Ishigami, the transfer student who tries to kill him. Nagase also sings the ending theme, “Koko ga Donna Sekai demo,” which is her first solo song. Eri Yukimura (Anri in Blue Lock) plays Rune, and Yuichi Nakamura (Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen) plays East.
Tatsuo Sato (Martian Successor Nadesico, Stellvia) directed the series and served as its series composer, making it his final project. Sato died in April 2026 at 61, and production was completed under assistant director Kentaro Mizuno. Satoru Fujimoto designed the characters. Animation was produced jointly by Nagomi and Eota, both part of the Twin Engine group, with Twin Engine producing.
Nagomi, Eota, and Twin Engine said in a joint statement that the staff had inherited the director’s intentions and completed the work, and offered their condolences. Mizuno said the staff and cast had poured their hearts into the story of Fuuta, Kouko and their reincarnations, and Mizukami issued a comment thanking the staff and Sato.
What an 18-episode adaptation suggests about Spirit Circle anime
Mizukami said the story follows seven lives in different eras and settings, and described the length it needed as delicate, somewhere between one and two cours.
Spirit Circle manga ran in Shonen Gahosha’s Young King Ours from May 2012 to March 2016 and was collected in six volumes, with more than 800,000 copies in circulation. At roughly three episodes per volume, the announced 18-episode run should be enough to adapt all of it.
