Sony has recently published a patent built around an automated AI solution that identifies issues with your PlayStation (or other Sony-related) technology, codes a software fix, and pushes it to your device. It eliminates the need to raise tickets, speak to customer support services, or manually repair your equipment, but it poses a pretty huge risk.
Put simply, the technology would have a remote AI agent watching the network for any device blips, mostly software-based, and it would diagnose them automatically. Then, it would code and push a fix out to your device or console without any need for human intervention.

PlayStation Patent Patches Technology Automatically
In a report published recently by Patentlyze, a Sony patent was uncovered concerning an AI-driven patching solution. It’s worth pointing out right off the bat that it’s notdesignated only for PlayStation hardware and devices, but for anythingacross Sony’s technology estate.
That means phones, televisions, headsets, and home technology.
For the end user, this means that any errors or blips with their devices would be identified and addressed remotely by an automated AI agent, eliminating the need for customer support solutions. It couldeven eliminate error messages and other problems from being presented to the user, as things would be automatically identified as being wrong and repaired before they reached that point.
Per the report from Patentlyze, the details of the patent, which was filed in March 2025 and publishedthis month, suggest that ‘constant cloud communication’ means that you’d never have any downtime in these systems. It really just needs a decision-making component and then an AI agent to write a fix, if needed.
But this is a potential issue, as sized up by Patentlyze:
The honest gap in the document is safety: an automated system sending repair instructions to a device in your living room needs careful guardrails so a small hiccup does not become a larger one. That is a genuine engineering challenge, but it is a solvable one, and nothing here suggests the core idea is unsound.
What if the automated code generated to fix a small issue ended up bricking your console, television, or phone? What if it introduced an even more critical concern, such as something tied to temperature control or power limitations? Could there be a world where this ‘fix’ causes a fire or some physical damage?
Ultimately, this is why it’s just a patentand not technology being pushed into production… yet.
