Sony Acquires Film Rights To “D’Orc” Comic

Sony Pictures has acquired live-action film rights to the bestselling comic book series “D’Orc”.

Creator, author and illustrator Brett Bean is attached to adapt the script from his Image Comics title, which debuted earlier this year.

The comic blends swashbuckling humour, sprawling magical mythology and gritty action-fantasy.

Armed with nothing but a “magical yet ambitiously violent” shield, a lonely orphan stumbles headfirst into Sunderaine’s never-ending war between the Light and Dark.

With a wholly inconvenient doomsday prophecy, the unassuming half dwarf/half orc is fated to end the world. Soon, everyone will know his name and want him dead.

The title’s first issue sold out before its release and is now on its eighth printing. Subsequent issues also have gone into multiple printings..

Bean has worked as an illustrator for the “Dungeon Crawler Carl” and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop along with authoring graphic novel series like “Zoo Patrol Squad” and “Muk ‘n’ Honey”.
