Let’s lead off with the peak performance gaming laptop deal we’ve found so far, a steep 18% discount on the exceptional MSI Vector HX. From top to bottom, this portable is built to deliver fast frame rates and gorgeous graphics, with the RTX 5080 graphics card—our pick for the best value in Nvidia’s current offerings—pumping out visuals to the 240Hz QHD+ display. The processor is equally impressive, a 14-core Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX that can tackle anything you throw its way. Throw in a full 2GB of onboard storage and a free 8-in-1 USB hub for all your peripherals and you’ve got a potent PC at a nice price. It’s an investment, but it’ll deliver high-quality performance for a long time.

Asus TUF F16 Gaming Laptop Deal

It’s not the biggest discount we’ve ever seen, but taking 5% off of this already affordable entry-level gaming laptop gives you enough extra cash to pick up a title or two during the next Steam sale. We have a comprehensive review of the Asus TUF F16, giving it an “Excellent” rating with PCMag expert Marshall Honorof saying it “delivers the gaming goods” thanks to contemporary components, a better-than-expected screen, and lots of convenient ports. Our biggest criticism was the relatively skimpy boot drive, as 512GB doesn’t go that far in the modern gaming era, but aside from that, you’ll be able to play everything you want at solid settings. The RTX 5050 graphics card is a lower-end Blackwell-series model, but it pairs perfectly with the FHD display, which delivers up to 165 frames per second. Despite having a plastic chassis, it still cleared MIL-STD-810H durability testing, and battery life clocked in at 10 hours and 22 minutes in our testing.

Dell’s Alienware brand is one of the most well-known names in gaming prebuilts, and if you don’t need the latest and greatest chips you can snag a very capable midrange machine at a nice price right now. We haven’t taken this particular model into the lab for a teardown yet, but do have a full review of the 16X Aurora, which is identical in many aspects, for comparison. The key elements here are the juicy 16-inch display, which has great color quality, 300 nits of brightness, and a zippy 120Hz refresh rate; the last-gen RTX 4050 GPU, which still delivers solid results even on demanding current titles, and updated cooling with a redesigned Cryo-Chamber structure that lets it run at full force for longer. We’ve got an 11% discount on this one.

If you want a gaming laptop that’s off the beaten path, consider a Chromebook. These machines are built for cloud-based gaming, eschewing a traditional GPU in favor of a lightweight and efficient operating system that lets them stream data at blazing speeds so that remote servers can do all the work. We have a CES preview of this one, where we were impressed by the stylish design, best-in-class connectivity, and a big and bright display with Asus’s NanoEdge technology making it almost bezel-free. The keyboard is tuned for gaming with RGB backlighting and anti-ghosting technology, and its 360-degree hinge lets you use it as a tablet as well. It even includes a built-in stylus!

Let’s open up with a tasty 21% price drop on a midrange gaming tower that’s impressive inside and out. The Thermaltake LCGS Versa i1460S has plenty of curb appeal with its fancy white chassis that sports a tempered glass side panel and mesh front cover, customizable RGB fans, and killer airflow. Under the hood, you get a well-balanced component loadout, with a steady Intel Core i5 processor paired with a Blackwell-series RTX 5060 graphics card (review here) and a generous 32GB of RAM, more than you’d normally expect in a machine at this price bracket. Port selection is well-considered and it runs cool and quiet. For under $1500, this is a lot of value.

Here’s another capable and well-priced gaming desktop that offers good component value for the price, especially with a 5% discount. Asus’s Republic of Gamers sub-brand is consistently reliable, and this assertive tower is no exception, with a dual-glass chassis and Aura Sync RGB lighting grabbing attention. With 58L of capacity, there’s plenty of room for upgrades down the line, but it’ll tackle today’s games with no sweat thanks to a potent Intel Core Ultra processor and RTX 5070 graphics card. Cooling is also great, with a quad-fan system and efficient airflow, and it has plenty of ports and up-to-date wireless connectivity.

If you’re looking for a gaming desktop with a markedly different visual vibe than the norm, this Corsair tower is a quirky beast that still delivers the goods. The woodgrain front panel has a retro feel that makes me remember the computer rooms of my youth, but it’s way more powerful than anything we had back then. We have an extensive review of this model, where we gave it an Editors’ Choice award for its tremendous build quality, dual coolers for both the CPU and GPU, and exceptional productivity and gaming performance. Our primary gripe was that the base price was a little high, so Amazon’s pre-Prime Big Deal Days discount of 21% is extremely welcome.

    FAQ

How Do I Know If I’m Actually Getting a Good Deal on a Gaming Laptop or Desktop?

Well, let’s hear what our expert Joe Osborne has to say. Joe’s tested hundreds of laptops and desktops over the last 15 years (and developed testing protocols for them as well) and specializes in video game hardware and software coverage.

Let graphics lead the way.Always prioritize the graphics card or GPU. This is what will determine how high you can adjust detail settings in games without pushing the frame rate below playable levels. The RTX 5070 Ti graphics card in the MSI Stealth A16 AI+ Gaming laptop is a perfect example.

Avoid integrated graphics.Unless you have specific space constraints or want the lightest possible traveling companion for PC gaming like the Asus Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip Cloud, avoid integrated graphics solutions. They don’t hold a candle to dedicated GPUs.

Spend between $1,000 and $3,000.For a ground-level gaming experience, you’ll need to spend at least a grand to achieve playable frame rates. Spending more than $3,000, you’ll quickly see diminishing returns for your money. That $1850 price for the Asus ROG G700 gaming desktop hits that sweet spot.

Make sure your monitor matches your specs. You’ll want a screen that can keep up with your system’s frame rate capacity. A GPU that has trouble pushing 4K resolutions doesn’t make sense paired with a monitor designed for that sharpness. So make sure to scope out our picks for the Best Prime Day Monitor Deals.

Sure, go for the RGB.If you have the money to spare, it doesn’t hurt to spruce up your rig with RGB lighting. This kind of extra often adds a fun, premium feel to the gaming experience. Just check out those RGB fans on the Skytech Gaming PC Desktop.
