SMAC <a href="https://comicvibe.com/bleecker-street-sells-to-outerlight-entertainment/” title=”Bleecker Street Sells to Outerlight Entertainment”>Entertainment, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), and EverWonder Studio have launched Grand Slam of Flag, a global tournament series featuring top women’s national flag football teams and their federations. The series comes as women’s flag football builds toward its Olympic debut at LA28.
Sam Rapoport, who spent more than 23 years with the NFL, will serve as Commissioner. Michael Strahan, co-founder of SMAC Entertainment, will serve as a founding partner. Consulting with the NFL, SMAC, EverWonder, and CAA Sports will draw on their expertise in live event production, content, talent, commercial strategy, and media to grow the series, develop partnerships, and secure global media and distribution.
Grand Slam of Flag will debut in Los Angeles in February 2027 during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, in association with the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). The inaugural event will include six national teams: USA, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Spain, and China. The prize pool is $500,000, which the organizers describe as the largest ever offered in women’s flag football. National governing bodies from all six countries have confirmed participation: USA Football, Football Canada, Mexico’s FMFA, Great Britain’s BAFA, Spain’s FEFA, and China’s CRFA. Additional 2027 event dates and host cities will be announced.
“Women’s flag football is at an extraordinary inflection point. For the first time, kids around the world can grow up with the Olympics as a destination. Now, we have an opportunity to give the world’s best athletes a global stage with unprecedented stakes,” says Rapoport. “With historic prize money, national pride on the line and the world watching, every game will matter. We’ve assembled a team with deep expertise across flag football, sports and entertainment to create more than a tournament series — a global platform that elevates these athletes, reaches new audiences and delivers must-watch competition on the road to LA28.”
