Signal Veil, A Survival Horror Game Inspired by ’90s Anime, Announced for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox X|S, & PC

A new psychological survival horror game called Signal Veil is officially in development for <a href="https://comicvibe.com/the-witcher-3-remastered-nintendo-switch-2-tech-analysis-including-frame-rate-and-resolution/" title="The Witcher 3 Remastered Nintendo Switch 2 tech analysis, including frame rate and resolution”>Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PCed by Chilean studio Time Hunters and Tokyo-based publisher Serafini Productions

Signal Veil takes inspiration from classic survival horror games while using a ’90s anime-style look. Players take control of Aki Mizuno, a teenage girl who explores Nishikawa High School while trying to uncover the truth behind a series of mysterious disappearances. The mystery is also personal for Aki, as her missing mother is among those who have disappeared.

One of the most important tools in the game is a supernatural cellphone inherited by Aki. The phone reacts and vibrates when invisible spirits are nearby, helping players detect threats they normally cannot see.

The cellphone also has other uses. Its flash can stun enemies, while its camera can reveal hidden objects and imprints as players explore the school.

Signal Veil also brings back features associated with older survival horror games, including fixed camera angles designed to create suspense similar to classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill games.

As for combat, players won’t be able to simply fight their way through every enemy. Ammo, medicine and mystical weapons will be hard to find, so players will need to plan how they deal with each spirit instead of relying on force.

    • Classic Fixed Camera: Explore tense environments with preset angles that limit vision and heighten suspense, inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
    • Spiritual Phone: Detect supernatural entities through vibrations, static or distortions. Use the flash to stun and the camera to reveal hidden objects or imprints.
    • Spiritual Purge: Enemies require ritual- like sequences: detect, provoke, stun, expose essence, then purge permanently.
    • Limited Tactical Combat: Scarce ammo and improvised weapons. Each entity has unique behaviors, demanding observation, strategy and environmental exploitation.

At the time of writing, Signal Veil does not have an official release date. However, players can already add the game to their digital wishlists ahead of its release on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
