[Series: Visually Appealing VRChat Worlds] How has the heavily updated “Virtual Hiroshima Station 2u” changed?

In VRChat, a wide variety of content is released day and night, from game worlds where you can play with friends to scenic worlds perfect for relaxing. In this series, we will pick out and introduce some of the most visually appealing worlds from the vast number of available worlds.

The virtual Hiroshima Station that I’m introducing today is “Virtual Hiroshima Station 2u,” which has returned even more powerful than before.

“Virtual Hiroshima Station 2u” is a world developed by the JR West Group in partnership with Gugenka Inc. It is modeled after the real-world JR Hiroshima Station, and you can explore the station within “VRChat”. The “initial version” of this world was released in May, but its unstable performance and lack of content sparked discussion, and it was announced that a phased update would be introduced. That update was recently implemented.

Upon entering the world, you disembark into a train approaching Hiroshima Station. When I visited this world before the update, I remember it being somewhat laggy even inside the train car, but that has been significantly improved.

Stepping off the train, I arrived at the north-south pedestrian walkway of Hiroshima Station. This area has also changed considerably. Shop textures have been added to the surrounding area, giving it the lively atmosphere of a large station. Plush toys of the “227 series” train that runs in the Hiroshima area, and samples of uniform hats with ears for the avatar “Mamehinata” are also on display.

These collaboration items are actually currently on sale in the official VRChat marketplace. Purchasing them will allow you to change the portals and effects you use when moving between worlds to “JR specifications” (sales period is until September 14th). A video button is available in the sample corner, where you can check how the effects unfold when you play the video.

The Shinkansen concourse has been transformed from the realistic station interior into a cyber-themed space predominantly featuring purple. Posters for the “VRChat” community and other related groups are displayed here, along with announcements for a photo contest.

Further inside, there’s a rest area where many people can gather.

The “conventional train concourse” area, which can be accessed by passing through the ticket gates, is characterized by its use of 3D Gaussian splattering. This creates an atmosphere that closely resembles an actual passageway.

Furthermore, you can move from the conventional line concourse to the platforms. You can visit the actual locations where trains arrive and depart at Hiroshima Station.

The updated “Virtual Hiroshima Station 2u” is a world with even more to see than before. The project itself is also very active, and an official booth was set up at the recent “Comic Market 108,” where merchandise was sold and a photo session with the official character “4.u-ko” was held.

Another request I’d like to make is the addition of vehicles. Hiroshima Station is famous for its streetcar stop. For example, if a streetcar were installed there and it were possible to look inside, it would add even more to the attraction. I hope this will be added in future updates.

    \\ #JR西日本コミケ A huge success 🎉 //

The venue is bustling with many people 🙌

At the Virtual Station booth, you can also take photos with 4.u-ko cosplayers 📸💕

    Merchandise is limited in quantity!

‘Clayface: Celebrity Dirt’ #1 is one of the coolest debuts of the year

Clayface has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to the Batman’s rogues gallery.
