    JamesBy No Comments8 Mins Read

Amazon’s transformation from a humble bookseller to an all-in-one retail megalith couldn’t have happened without the cooperation of manufacturers willing to let it shave margins down for record-low prices. One example is HP, which is joining in the pre-Prime Big Deal Days discounting on Amazon with discounts on laptops, desktops, and printers. Here are the seven best offers we’ve found, with more on the way as we get closer to the October 6 sale.

HP is one of our go-to brands for affordable business laptops, and the OmniBook 3 strikes an excellent balance between price and performance, with a capable and power-effective Snapdragon X1 processor leading the charge. This is a component-light machine, with only 256GB of onboard storage, but it still has what it takes to tackle everyday productivity tasks. It’s lightweight and convenient to carry, with decent if unspectacular all-plastic construction. Many endurance-focused laptops get that battery life by compromising with a dull and washed-out screen, but the OmniBook 5 packs a satisfyingly bright and colorful 2K OLED display. Amazon’s got it on sale for 22% off right now.

If you want something with a little more curb appeal, this is a tasty little 8% discount on the lovely-looking EliteBook 8. In our review of this portable, PCMag expert Mark Coppock called it a “serious business workhorse” thanks to its solid component loadout, noting that its sturdy aluminum and magnesium build felt great in the hands, with MIL-STD 810H durability certification. We also liked that you’ll find industry-standard components under the hood, making it easy to upgrade or repair—something that’s increasingly important to us. We did wish that it had a slightly higher-resolution display, but WUXGA is nothing to sneeze at, and color and contrast tested well.

    HP OmniBook X Flip Laptop

    16-inch FHD+ display, Intel Core Ultra 7 256V CPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD

For something with a little more personality, we like the OmniBook X Flip. This laptop takes the budget-minded layout of the regular OmniBook and jazzes it up with a 360-degree hinge that lets you use it as a tablet or a tent display. The FHD+ touch display is colorful and responsive, making it as good for presentations and creative work as it is for videoconferencing and streaming video in your leisure time. It’s solid component-wise, with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and a full 16GB of RAM. This offer comes bundled with a pair of Plusera wireless earbuds for use on the go. You can read our extensive review of the OmniBook X Flip to get the hard numbers, but in summary, this is a very capable 16-inch portable with long battery life.

    HP Omen 16 Gaming Laptop

    HP Omen 16 Gaming Laptop

    16-inch WQXGA display, Ryzen 9 8940HX CPU, RTX 5060 GPU, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD

HP’s gaming products, which it offers under the Omen sub-brand, hit the same balance—good but not class-leading components at a very fair price. The Omen 16 is a capable mid-range machine with a zesty 16-inch WQXGA screen that blasts through top titles with a 240Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, you’ll find some excellent silicon, including a fast and power-efficient Ryzen 9 processor and a Blackwell-series RTX 5060 graphics card. In our review of this mean machine, we appreciated its exceptional port selection, including wired Ethernet for top-speed downloading, as well as its slim and lightweight build. Plenty of RAM and a full terabyte of storage make it an even better deal.

HP’s OmniDesk line delivers reliable performance in a charmingly retro wood-grained tower, and in our CES preview of these units we were impressed by their logical port placement, good component loadouts, and reasonable price. This is a great choice for a home office workstation, with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor that’ll chew through spreadsheets like there’s no tomorrow thanks to 32GB of system RAM. On-device Copilot AI in Windows 11 also benefits from those resources. Connectivity is solid, with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 plus front and rear-facing ports, including USB-C. This package does come with a wired keyboard and mouse, which is less than ideal, but aside from that it’s well worth your time at 28% off.

Printers are a big part of HP’s business, and in recent years the company has shifted focus a bit from the massive office behemoths we all know and love to more consumer-centric machines. The Sprocket is a charming and efficient pocket-sized printer that uses ZINK zero-ink technology to output your smartphone photos, Polaroid-style, on special paper. We gave it an Editors’ Choice award in our review, praising the machine’s impressive print quality, ease of use, and cool companion app, which lets you add augmented reality features to your snapshots. Battery life is solid, with 35-40 prints per charge, and the ZINK paper is affordable and feels good in the hands, with sticker-backed options available. Snag one for a nice discount while you can.

For a more traditional printer, this 24% discount on the Smart Tank Plus 651 is tough to beat. We praised this unit as a capable home office printer in our review, noting that it’s got a small footprint, ultra-low running costs and solid color output. This is a bulk-ink design, meaning that it uses a pair of cartridges to deliver ink: one for black and one for cyan, magenta, and yellow. Instead of replacing the whole thing, you fill the reservoirs with liquid ink from small bottles. We did note that the setup and installation process was a bit more convoluted than some of the competition, but PCMag readers are the most tech-savvy out there, so we’re confident you can handle it. Other strong points included robust connectivity, including Bluetooth LE, dual-band Wi-Fi, and USB 2.0.
