Rockstar Games Crypto Claims: GTA VI Sharkbux, Solana and TAKE2 Token Explained

Grand Theft Auto VI has become the center of fresh crypto speculation after two documents published through a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission public-comment docket described a proposed in-game currency called “Sharkbux” and a possible implementation on Solana.

The documents carry Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games branding, but there is a major caveat: their corporate authorization has not been independently established. The SEC-hosted material therefore does not prove that Take-Two or Rockstar plans to launch a blockchain token.

An Aug. 18 document describes Sharkbux as a proprietary virtual currency tied to the GTA VI ecosystem. A supplemental submission dated Aug. 24 says the project could use a public blockchain, with the currency represented as an SPL token on Solana, subject to legal and operational review. The SEC filing describes that setup as a possible technical architecture rather than a completed deployment.

Sharkbux Would Not Operate Like a Typical Memecoin

The proposed design differs sharply from an unrestricted cryptocurrency. According to the earlier document, ordinary players would not be able to freely transfer Sharkbux between themselves. Transfers would instead remain under company-controlled mechanisms, while eligible creators could potentially redeem earned balances through a separate program.

That distinction matters as Solana remains one of the main networks for speculative token launches. Recent activity around the TRUMP token illustrates how quickly Solana-based liquidity and wallet movements can attract trader attention, while the network’s broader SOL market has also strengthened during <a href="https://comicvibe.com/ghost-driver-codes-august-2026/” title=”Ghost Driver codes (August 2026)”>August.

Sharkbux proposal vs. a typical Solana memecoin.

TAKE2 Trading Does Not Confirm a Rockstar Token

Speculation intensified after a Solana wallet named in the supplemental document was found holding 600,000 units of a newly created TAKE2 token. Blockchain explorer data categorized the asset as a meme token associated with Pump.fun, but no verified Take-Two label connected the wallet or token to the publisher.

The episode reflects the speed at which a meme coin can emerge around a recognizable brand or online narrative. A token’s presence on-chain, however, is not evidence that the brand concerned created or endorsed it.

Take-Two’s official Aug. 7 results filing confirms that GTA VI remains scheduled for Nov. 19, 2026, while Rockstar’s official materials continue to list PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as launch platforms. Neither the company’s earnings materials nor the official GTA VI page announces Sharkbux, an SPL token or a Solana integration.

For now, the SEC documents are enough to fuel speculation, but not enough to establish an official Rockstar crypto strategy.
