Investing.com — Roblox Corp (NYSE:RBLX) shares advanced 5.2% in early Monday trading following fresh weekly engagement data from JPMorgan that highlighted a sharp weekend spike in platform usage. The uptick came as JPMorgan analyst Cory Carpenter reiterated a Neutral rating and $40.00 price target on the online gaming platform, citing encouraging progress in discovery algorithm performance despite broader seasonal pressure.
Peak concurrent users across the entire platform reached 28.7 million on Saturday, marking the highest single-day user concentration since mid-December of last year. The weekend surge was driven largely by breakout popularity in viral titles, notably “Steal An Egg,” which saw peak concurrent users jump to 14.3 million from 9.9 million the previous week, and newcomer “Ride A Pet,” which attracted roughly 800,000 peak users in its second week.
JPMorgan attributes the rebound in viral traction to ongoing optimizations within Roblox’s recommendation engine, known as the Recommended For You algorithm. The adjustments appear to be successfully balancing monetization and user retention across key demographic cohorts, helping offset weekday engagement declines caused by back-to-school seasonality and tougher year-over-year comparisons.
While average peak concurrent users remain down 11% year-over-year for September to date, the trend reflects a notable sequential moderation from August’s 25% drop. Investors are monitoring whether sustained viral momentum can stabilize broader engagement metrics as Roblox continues to refine its content discovery architecture heading into the fourth quarter.
