At $37 a share, is Roblox (NYSE:RBLX | RBLX Price Prediction) stock a Buy? After a punishing selloff that pulled shares 71.7% below where they traded a year ago, sentiment is split between a bullish Wall Street and a bearish tape.

Roblox operates a user-generated 3D entertainment platform monetized through Robux, its virtual currency, with cohorts across kids, teens, and a fast-growing over-18 audience. The company reached 132 million daily active users in the most recent quarter. Yet the stock repriced sharply after a monetization warning tied to a mandatory age-check rollout that throttled communication for unverified users and slowed sign-ups.

Why the Selloff Created an Opening

The bull case starts with the disconnect between price and consensus. Wall Street’s average price target of $51.32 implies substantial upside, and the ratings mix is heavily skewed positive. That mix held even after the guidance cut that triggered the crash.

Underlying engagement remains strong. Q4 2025 bookings jumped 63% to $2.22 billion. Daily active users (DAUs) were up 69% to 144 million, and the over-18 cohort is growing 50%+ while monetizing 40% higher than the platform average. Free cash flow (FCF) rose 40% year over year to $596 million in Q1 2026. That is evidence the cash engine is intact even as GAAP losses widen.

Insider activity backs the setup. On May 28, 2026, seven directors picked up restricted stock in a coordinated grant. The chief accounting officer received 38,842 shares across June and July. There was no panic selling at the lows.

Why the Bears Have Real Ammunition

Roblox Q1 bookings of $1.70 billion fell short of expectations. Q1 revenue of $1.44 billion bested the $1.42 billion consensus, but management initially cut FY2026 revenue guidance to 20% to 25% growth, then completely withdrew its full-year FY2026 guidance during its Q2 earnings release, citing major monetization headwinds and uncertainty surrounding its new recommendation algorithms.

Valuation looks stretched. Forward earnings are 192x, price-to-sales at 4.6, and trailing EPS reflects a loss of $1.41. A beta of 1.457 means further market weakness is magnified here.

A wave of securities fraud lawsuits alleges misleading statements about the age verification rollout’s impact on organic growth, with a lead plaintiff deadline approaching. News sentiment has been overwhelmingly bearish, roughly 47 of 50 articles over the past 30 days.

    Why Patience Has Appeal

The Hold argument is straightforward: sequential DAU declines are coming, the legal calendar could deliver headline risk, and the FY2026 net loss guide of $1.035 billion to $1.175 billion makes near-term GAAP profitability unrealistic. Waiting a quarter to see whether age-checked users re-engage removes real uncertainty. The trade-off is opportunity cost if the group re-rates before that clarity arrives.

    What the Numbers Actually Say

Shares trade at $37, against a 52-week range of $33.88 to $142.00. The consensus target of $51.32 from 36 covering analysts points to meaningful upside, though targets are one input, not a promise.

Performance has been brutal. Roblox is down 54.3% year to date and 33.2% over the past month, against an S&P 500 that posted modest positive returns year to date. Market cap compressed to roughly $26.4 billion, and a full-chain put/call ratio of 0.42 suggests options positioning leans away from further downside.

    The Verdict: Buy the Reset

At $37, Roblox appears to be a Buy. The price reflects a bad quarter, cut guidance, active litigation, and a bearish news cycle. That is substantial pain absorbed. The operating business shows 132 million DAUs, over-18 monetization growing 50%+, and FCF still expanding. The age-verification drag is largely self-inflicted and time-limited, positioning the platform ahead of a regulatory environment that will punish slower competitors.

Appreciation runs through age-checked user re-engagement, continued over-18 bookings strength, and litigation removal. Watch for Q3 DAU stabilization and bookings growth exiting the low-20s range. What invalidates the thesis: another guidance cut, evidence that age-verified users churn permanently, or FCF guidance moving materially lower.

When insiders and analyst targets disagree with the stock price, the stock is usually the last to catch up.
