Not every silly line has to climb ever upwards for investors, just as long as the big green money line does so. Right? Well, that’s what’s effectively being reported by Roblox in its third quarter report for 2026, which saw dips in daily active users, monthly unique payers, and hours played, but did see a rise in its revenue.
Revenue for the quarter rose by 16% to $1.6B YoY, while daily active users dipped by 9% YoY, average hours engaged lowered by 15%, and the number of unique monthly payers lowered by 16%. Many of these dips are being primarily attributed to higher-than-average metrics from last year.
The adoption of AI tools among the platform’s users, with more than 80% of its top 100 experiences used these tools and published games that utilized these tools rose by over 50% from last year. “When anyone can create a game, what matters most is scaled distribution, effective discovery, a robust economy, industry-leading safety, and infrastructure to support it all,” Roblox Corp CEO David Baszucki is quoted as saying.
The company also talked up its chase of users over age 18 with initiatives such as its standalone app-creating Roblox Everywhere functionality and the AI-powered upscaler Roblox Reality that transforms the game’s visuals into more photorealistic ones. And clearly, they’re the ones who are spending. “Over 18 is our fastest-growing cohort on the platform,” the corporation says. “As we grow our over 18 audience, we expect overall monetization to improve.”
