Roblox Expands AI Game Tools and Plans Releases Beyond Its Platform

    Friday, 11 September 2026, 23:02

The gaming giant is turning its creation tools into a broader ecosystem, while giving developers new ways to earn and reach players.

Roblox is expanding its AI-powered game development tools and preparing to let users launch created projects outside its own platform. The company unveiled the new features during its annual Roblox developer conference.

The updates cover generative AI, non-player characters, support for multiple devices, offline mode, and financial services for creators.

How AI will help create games

The Build feature, introduced in July, lets users create games using ordinary text descriptions. Initially, the tool was available only in New Zealand, but access is now expanding to Serbia and Singapore.

The service will also support desktop computers for use on larger screens, offer a library of ready-made assets, and allow users to edit results step by step. By the end of the year, Roblox plans to add text-based scene generation, including directly in Roblox Studio.

Roblox games will be playable outside the platform

Soon, developers will be able to release games created with the Roblox engine as standalone apps for smartphones, computers, and consoles. By the end of the year, users will also be able to open games in a browser through a special link.

The company is expanding the capabilities of characters that are not controlled by players. In particular, they will be able to test games independently. Creators will also receive a tool for adding an offline mode, allowing users to continue playing when their internet connection is unstable.

    • A chat tab for friends will appear, moving with players as they switch between different games.
    • Voice input will be available for sending messages.
    • The recommendation algorithm will suggest shorter games to younger users and projects designed for longer sessions to older users.
    • The Roblox engine will support two-dimensional games with an orthographic camera, animated image containers, and direct sprite sheet imports.
    • In the vertical Moments feed, users will be able to tap an avatar in a video and purchase items associated with it.

Roblox <a href="https://comicvibe.com/geek-week-pdx-launches-art-hunt-for-dozens-of-sasquatches/” title=”‘Geek Week PDX’ launches art hunt for dozens of sasquatches”>launches new payouts for developers

According to Roblox, game creators have earned more than $5 billion on the platform since 2013. Over the past 12 months, developer payouts totaled $1.7 billion.

To help manage earnings, the company is launching Roblox Wallet. U.S. creators aged 18 and over will be able to receive payouts in real money by the end of each business day and transfer them to other bank accounts. The service will be provided by fintech company Airwallex, with plans to expand it to other countries later.

Next year, Roblox also plans to release the Roblox Card. The card will allow users to spend their earnings at establishments and stores that accept the corresponding payment method.

Roblox founder and CEO David Baszucki said that over the past quarter, players collectively spent more than 29 billion hours on the platform across 180 countries. The new tools are expected to help Roblox expand its audience not only within the platform but also across other devices and services.
