The main trailer for Red River’s second cour previews “Akatsuki no Hoshi,” the opening theme performed by Nana Mizuki. The anime’s official website unveiled the trailer, according to Crunchyroll’s September 25, 2026 report, which says it also highlights key figures in the story’s continuation.
Crunchyroll describes the accompanying main visual as showing a fragile bond and conspiratorial glances at twilight.
From Chie Shinohara’s historical fantasy manga
Red River adapts Chie Shinohara’s manga, serialized in Shogakukan’s Shojo Comic from January 1995 to June 2002 and collected in 28 tankōbon volumes. Crunchyroll reports that the series had surpassed 20 million copies in circulation by 2019.
The story follows Yuri, a modern Japanese teenager who wakes up in the Hittite Empire in the 14th century BCE and joins Prince Kail in the struggle for the throne. Kosuke Kobayashi directs the anime at Tatsunoko Production, with Yoriko Tomita handling series composition, Kenji Fujisaki designing the characters and Yoshihisa Hirano composing the music.
