Red Chillies Entertainment, the production house led by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, has announced its foray into vertical video storytelling, expanding its creative portfolio to capture India’s rapidly growing market for mobile-first, short-form digital entertainment. The platform has been titled as Shoonya. Aashish Singh who is a producer with Red Chillies Entertainment will be heading this department. He was previously the vice-president at Yash Raj Films.
The strategic expansion marks a notable evolution for the premier production studio, which has historically focused on big-budget feature films and long-form streaming series. By entering the vertical format, Red Chillies aims to engage younger, smartphone-native audiences who increasingly favor fast-paced, serialized micro-dramas and portrait-mode video content tailored for mobile consumption.
The move comes as vertical storytelling and micro-dramas gain significant commercial momentum across the Indian digital media landscape. By combining its film-grade production standards with mobile-optimized storytelling formats, the studio plans to build a dedicated pipeline of premium vertical content designed to drive engagement across digital platforms.
