The achievement, confirmed by his agency P Nation, highlights the track’s remarkable digital endurance. After surpassing five billion views in late 2023, the 2012 single added its latest billion plays in roughly two and a half years. This marks a rare velocity for a track that is over a decade old in an industry driven by rapid release cycles. Notably, the song also ranked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2012 for seven consecutive weeks.

PSY’s acknowledged the 6B milestone onstage in Gwacheon during his current SUMMERSWAG 2026 tour. To celebrate the moment, the artist appeared on-stage wearing the original outfit that he wore in the Gangnam Style music video. Notably, PSY’s live shows have become a key force in South Korea’s entertainment economyover time, showcasing how his commercial reach extends beyond the streaming numbers.
The annual tour, which has grown this year to 14 stadium dates across nine cities through late August, has evolved into one of the country’s most profitable live performance franchises since its launch in 2011. Joint research by Sokcho City, telecommunications provider KT, and Korea University revealed that a single 2025 SUMMERSWAG show in Sokcho generated ₩7.5 billion (~ $5.06 million USD as per current exchange rates) in local visitor spending. This marks a 23% increase when compared with the week preceding the festival time period. About 88% of the total 23,855 attendees had come from outside the municipal region, with 22% of them staying overnight.
