Porter Airlines is celebrating 20 years in the skies with a Canadian fashion collaboration and a collection of limited-edition merchandise. Travel advisors are also getting in on the birthday festivities.
The Toronto-based airline announced Wednesday (Oct. 21) that it has partnered with Kuwalla Tee, a family-run Montreal clothing brand founded in 2012, to launch the Cabin Crewneck, a $130 sweater available in two designs ahead of Porter’s official 20th birthday on Oct. 23.
Available in “I Only Fly Economy” and Mr. Porter versions, the sweaters feature a relaxed unisex fit in Porter’s signature sky blue, with embroidered details celebrating the airline’s raccoon mascot and economy travel experience.
The “I Only Fly Economy” design puts a playful spin on a cabin class that isn’t usually a fashion statement.
Kevin Jackson, president of Porter Airlines, said the collaboration reflects the airline’s approach to economy travel.
“The crewneck represents the feeling of flying in comfort with Porter, which is why we chose to work with Kuwalla Tee as a highly-regarded Canadian brand,” Jackson said.
Jackson added that the “I Only Fly Economy” slogan is a counter-intuitive statement for passengers who appreciate little luxuries and recognize that premium experiences don’t have to come with extravagant price tags.
Porter adds collectibles to the celebration
For those who prefer their airline memorabilia without sleeves, Porter’s 20th Birthday Limited-Edition Collection also includes three other keepsakes:
-
Mr. Porter Plushy: A stuffed version of the airline’s raccoon mascot, priced at $28.99 CAD.
-
Embraer E195-E2 Collector’s Model Aircraft: A 1:100-scale model with a display stand, priced at $109.99 CAD.
-
Commemorative Cap: Featuring an embroidered Mr. Porter mascot and holographic collector’s mark, priced at $44.99 CAD.
Applicable taxes and delivery fees are additional for the collectible items.
The collection follows Porter’s Little Things Blind Boxes, launched in August to kick off its anniversary celebrations. According to the airline, the boxes sold out in less than three days.
The Cabin Crewneck and anniversary merchandise are available for presale exclusively at porter20.com, while quantities last. Shipping is expected to begin in mid-November.
20 chances for advisors to win flights
Porter’s birthday celebrations go beyond merchandise, with Canadian travel advisors also getting in on the festivities.
The airline is offering advisors a chance to win one of 20 pairs of round-trip flight vouchers for Porter-operated flights.
To enter, advisors are invited to share a memorable customer experience involving Porter, from a special trip they helped arrange to a moment of exceptional service.
The contest runs until Oct. 31.
