MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVELS FOR KIDS AND TEENS COMING IN SPRING 2027
‘Narwhal and Jelly’ Creator Does Spider-Man

Abrams has lined up three Marvel graphic novels for young readers for early 2027.
The Amazingly Sleepy Spider-Man, by Narwhal and Jelly creator Ben Clanton, follows Spidey through his bedtime routine, which includes dinner, bath-time, and storytime. The 40-page hardcover is a hybrid picture book/comic book format and is aimed at readers ages 4 to 8; it will go on sale on January 12, 2027, with an MSRP of $19.99.
Clanton is the creator of the best-selling Narwhal and Jelly books, which were among the first graphic novels for emerging readers to really catch on, and he is also the creator of DC’s Aquamanatee (see “‘Aquamanatee’”).

Iron Man: Spidey Nonsense, by writer Dean Hale and artist Douglas Holgate, is the latest in Abrams’ Mighty Marvel Team-Up series, which also includes the 2026 release Iron Man: Super Smash! (see “Mighty Marvel Team-Ups”). The new volume has Tony Stark questioning reality after an encounter with a shape-shifting Skrull. Hoping to clear his head a bit, Spider-Man invites him to patrol the city, but things get complicated when they meet Mysterio. The 96-page hardcover, rated for ages 5 to 9, will go on sale on January 5 with an MSRP of $12.99.

X-Men Team Spirit, Book 1: Fractured, by writer Nick Brooks and artist Naomi Franq, is a X-Men story with moody teenage characters, apparently along the same lines as Kami Garcia’s best-selling Teen Titans books for DC. This volume is the first in a series and starts with a new student arriving at Mutant Academy. The 160-page graphic novel, with a 6” x 9” trim size, is rated for ages 14-18 and will be available on July 6 as a paperback with an MSRP of $17.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $26.99.
