Rockstar Games and PlayStation continue to push that Grand Theft Auto VI “plays best” on PS5, with more surprises due to be announced on the topic.
GTA VI has now officially shifted its pre-load date forward, with those who have digitally pre-ordered the title able to pre-load from November 10. Those who have ordered a code-in-a-box will keep to the pre-existing pre-load date of November 12.
This is perhaps all due to GTA VI’s enormous file size, which Rockstar confirmed to be up to 212GB, depending on your console.
PlayStation followed up the announcement with its own update for soon-to-be GTA VI players, sharing four steps to take ahead of launch day that ended in an intriguing little tease.
“Stay tuned for more,” PlayStation wrote in a blog post. “We’ll have more information on Grand Theft Auto VIas we get closer to November 19.”
It’s an interesting tease considering GTA VI’s PS5 exclusive technical features have already been outlined.
Perhaps Sony will confirm that GTA VI is capable of taking advantage of QSSR, the base console’s alternative to the PS5 Pro’s PSSR upscaling. We’re also due full specifications for the PS5 Pro version of the game.
At this stage, the PS5 is yet to have any exclusive content confirmed, with its exclusive features being of a technical nature only, but we can’t rule exclusive content out as something that won’t happen.
Four steps to take on PlayStation 5 ahead of GTA VI’s launch day

Alongside its tease, PlayStation outlined four steps that need to be taken ahead of launch day, although you’re probably good on most of these, admittedly.
The first states that you need to “set up a PlayStation account”, which you most likely have had for years.
The second is to “pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI”, which, again, you’ve probably done.
The third step is the most useful, reminding fans to “get ready to pre-download”, which confirms clearing a minimum of 212GB of storage – and you don’t necessarily need to turn to deleting games to clear storage.
Finally, PlayStation advises that players should complete their PS5 setup, which is essentially a subtle way of encouraging you to upgrade your DualSense to a DualSense Edge or to acquire the new Pulse wireless headset, with GTA VI taking advantage of the PS5’s 3D audio.
What PlayStation 5 exclusive features is GTA VI confirmed to have?
Again, GTA VI is currently set to take exclusive advantage of several of the PlayStation 5’s technical features, rather than boasting exclusive content.
The game will utilise Tempest 3D audio, and while the new Pulse headset provides access to that technology, so does the PS5’s Pulse 3D headset, which has been available since launch, even if it doesn’t boast quite the same bells and whistles as the new Pulse.
“Immerse yourself in Leonida’s distinct soundscape with the enhanced and highly accurate audio positioning of Tempest 3D Audio, making each unique situation come alive,” PlayStation has teased.
PlayStation users should also look forward to “fast loading” as GTA VIutilises the PS5’s ultra-high-speed SSD.
It’s also been confirmed that the game will make use of the DualSense’s haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and integrated speaker to offer “dynamic resistance” and ”extra dimension”.
