Without warning, three beloved games have been delisted from the <a href="https://comicvibe.com/playstation-5-pc-emulation-keeps-accelerating-marvels-wolverine-now-boots-into-the-game/” title=”PlayStation 5 PC emulation keeps accelerating, Marvel's Wolverine now boots into the game”>PlayStation Store, and they’re titles that ooze nostalgia.
If you load up the PlayStation Store at the time of writing, you’ll no longer be able to purchase Disney Pixar Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue (PS1),Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 (PSP), nor Disney Pixar Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (PS1) on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.
Buzz Lightyear of Star Commandhas also been pulled from PlayStation Plus’ premium catalogue after the other two titles departed the service previously.
While the delistings may not have been confirmed ahead of time, they’re not exactly a shock to those who know what’s on the horizon in the gaming calendar.
You will technically be able to get your hands on each of these three titles again, but there are a few disappointing caveats.
They won’t be the original versions and it’s very likely they’ll be at a higher price point; that’s because there are two remastered releases on the way.
Toy Story: Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition are on the way next month
From October 15, gamers across all platforms will be able to purchase and enjoy Toy Story: Retro Roundup from developer Digital Eclipse and publisher Atari.
This remastered compilation includes the aforementionedDisney Pixar Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue and Disney Pixar Buzz Lightyear of Star Command alongside Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, and Toy Story Racer.
The collection has been upgraded “with quality-of-life improvements” plus those who purchase it can enjoy “behind-the-scenes content”.
The latter includes exclusive interviews with developers, animators, and voice actors with connections to Toy Story as well as a virtual museum filled with design documents, development photos, and other archival content.
The collection is due to retail for £26.99 / $29.99 digitally.
If you also want to enjoyDisney Pixar Toy Story 3, then you’ll have to purchase the new version, titled Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 Complete Edition.
Also developed by Digital Eclipse and this too is landing on October 15. It’s a shame it couldn’t just be bundled into the Retro Roundup
In this version of the beloved title, you should expect improved graphics and “a few new surprises in store”.
One confirmed addition is the ability to play as Emperor Zurg in Toy Box Mode which wasn’t an option in all previous editions, just some.
Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is set to cost £17.75 / $24.99. Alternatively, you can get a physical copy that bundles the two aforementioned releases together.
Despite these new offerings, PlayStation users aren’t thrilled at the removal of the original titles from the PlayStation Store.
“Thank god I got the Plats while they were on premium. Actually good short games and way above average for movie tie-in games,” said one Twitter/X user.
Another added, “Bro they gotta give at least two week notice before they delist s**t man.”
“I’m lucky I purchased all of those games years ago before they got delisted,” someone remarked.
At least they’re coming back in some form, even if we do wish we’d had a heads up.
