PlayStation Plus hasn’t impressed users so far this month, having dropped a pretty mediocre PS Plus Essential tier line-up.
It has just quietly been confirmed though, that a major new addition is on the way for premium tier subscribers.
Developer One More Level is set to launch new action RPG Valor Mortis on October 13.
The studio is best known for Ghostrunner, with Valor Mortis being a first foray into the soulslike space.
Ahead of the game’s launch, it’s been confirmed that Valor Mortis will be launching a new Game Trial on PlayStation Plus Premium.
If you’re not familiar with Game Trials, they’re essentially glorified demos – and it’s not ideal that they’re locked behind the paywall that is PlayStation Plus’ premium tier.
What sets Game Trials apart from regular ol’ free demos, the paywall aside, is that Game Trials usually last longer and are for more high-profile games.
Valor Mortis’ Game Trial, for example, runs for 90 minutes. Admittedly, that’s on the shorter side, with other examples on PlayStation Plus running for up to four hours.
While it’s not made abundantly clear, it sounds as if the Game Trial is coming on launch day, October 13.
We’ve already been hands-on with Valor Mortis, and it’s shaping up nicely

“Valor Mortis will be in Xbox Game Pass and we’ll have a 90 min PlayStation Plus Trial,” the team announced on Twitter/X.
“We’re not asking for pre-orders so there’s NO advanced access and NO exclusive content locked behind a pre-purchase paywall.
“We’re confident that the game will speak for itself on October 13!”
The team later confirmed that the 90-minute demo is timed access to the full game and progress will carry over should you pick up the full title; the full game will set you back $39.99.
If you’re not familiar with Valor Mortis, it’s a first-person experience where you “rise from death as a former soldier of Napoleon’s army”.
“You are William, a soldier of the Grande Armée brought back from a battlefield grave,” begins the game’s synopsis.
“But the Europe you awaken to is not the one you sacrificed for. A mysterious plague now sweeps the continent, and you have been reborn with its corrupting power pulsing through your veins.”
Here at GAMINGbible, we had the opportunity to go hands-on with Valor Mortis at Gamescom.
“With how many soulslikes it feels like we’re getting nowadays, I was a little afraid that Valor Mortis might get lost in the shuffle. But with a unique theme and a satisfying combat loop, there’s no reason to be doubtful of this game being in GOTY conversations at the end of the year,” our very own Sam Cawley said.
“That’s if One More Level can keep up that momentum for the rest of the game.”
Well, it’s not long until we can find out with Valor Mortis arriving in full and launching its Game Trial on October 13.
As for what October has delivered us so far, essential tier subscribers can now download and enjoy F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2.
