PlayStation Plus has announced its latest batch of goodies for October 2026 and Elden Ring fans are going to be very, very happy.
Yesterday, on October 14, PlayStation revealed a bumper drop of freebies for its PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium subscribers and it’s possibly the best line-up we’ve seen all year.
Standout additions includeHorizonForbidden WestandMafia: The Old Country, but you’re also getting Mycopunk, Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2, The Midnight Walk, Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn EditionandMonster Energy Supercross 25.
However, the game that caught our eye later wasn’t even a PlayStation Plus Extra title, it was Mortal Shell II.
Mortal Shell II is joining the PlayStation Plus Premium tier as a free game trial rather than a full game like Horizon:Forbidden WestorMafia: The Old Country.
For those who don’t know, this is a top-notch soulslike that’s perfect for any fans of FromSoftware’s work. It’s pure dark-fantasy just like Dark Souls, but with new-gen mechanics comparable to Elden Ring.
The gimmick is rather than having one customisable character, you’ll instead inhabit several different forms called ‘shells’. You’ll find these as you explore and slay enemies, then you can turn them into playable vessels with their own unique stats, strengths and weaknesses.
It’s a unique mechanic which helps it stand out from the aforementioned FromSoftware games. Rather than being stuck within one build, you have the choice of several, as well as the flexibility to switch between them throughout your playthrough.

Mortal Shell II’sfree trial will become available on October 20, though at the time of writing, we don’t know how long you’ll get to play it for. You usually get two to three hours though for this type of offering. Joining Mortal Shell II with new game trials are Valheim, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhuand Directive 8020.
PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers are also getting two extra games – Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition –which join the service’s steadily improving classics catalogue.

PlayStation Plus drops two bonus DLC packs just in time for Halloween
Aside from the varied mix of full games and demos, PlayStation Plus is also offering two bonus freebies for gamers to enjoy.
The first is Back 4 Blood— Tunnels of Terror pack, an expansion for, you guessed it, Back 4 Blood. This was meant to be the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead and while it wasn’t bad, it unfortunately pales in comparison.
The Tunnels of Terror pack adds a new area called Ridden Hives in addition to new characters, weapons and skins.
PlayStation Plus’ second October DLC freebie is the World War Z — Vibrant Halloween Skin Pack. This one’s a little less exciting than the Back 4 Bloodpack as it’s just a collection of ugly weapon skins forWorld War Z.
As you’d expect, both Back 4 Blood and World War Z are part of the PlayStation Plus Extra membership if you don’t own them already, so you can take full advantage of the free DLC packs above.
