International stars, independent curators and deep-dive workshops are just some of the things comic-lovers can expect as the popular Perth Comic Arts Festival returns later this month
Kicking off on Thursday 23 July, the festival will be taking over the city for a four-day celebration of the world of comics
Now in its ninth year running, the Perth festival has another action-packed line-up planned, including shows, markets and activities run by some of the best comic-makers in the country
Starting off at the Milktooth School of Art and Stories, the first two days of the festival will feature a series of Deep-Dive workshops, where international guests will share their creative skills with local practitioners
Friday will mark the opening of the festival weekend, with a fusion of live music and comic reading at PCAF’s Look Hear concert at The Bird
The State Library of WA will be the hub for the weekend-long program of a free full program, with a number of prominent comic creators sharing their experience within the comic industry
Amongst the line-up are creators of Banned Book Club Kim Hyun Sook and Ryan Estrada, as well as Australian creators Rachel Ang, Stacy Gougoulis and Steven Christie, who will explore their experiences and challenges of working with international publishers
Closing up the festival weekend, the State Library of WA will be abuzz again for its Market Day, with over 110 comics creators showcasing their creations
