Crimson Desert will be available to play at Gamescom 2026 as Pearl Abyss partners with Samsung to offer a public hands-on demo of the action-adventure game. Visitors attending the event in Cologne, Germany, from August 26 to August 30 will be able to experience the game in Hall 09.1 at Stand B020–C029, where it will be showcased on Samsung’s latest gaming display technology.The collaboration will also feature Samsung’s new 32-inch Odyssey G8 monitor, while Pearl Abyss is set to host technical sessions explaining how Crimson Desert and its in-house BlackSpace Engine were developed.
Crimson Desert hands-on demo to run on Samsung’s new Odyssey G8 monitor
At the Gamescom exhibition floor, attendees will be able to experience Crimson Desert using Samsung’s 32-inch Odyssey G8 monitor. According to Samsung, the display is the first 6K monitor to feature a “Dual Mode toggle.” The feature allows users to switch between native 6K resolution at a 165Hz refresh rate or reduce the resolution to 3K while increasing the refresh rate to 330Hz.In addition to the playable demo, the exhibition area will host stage presentations, community giveaways and appearances by professional cosplayers throughout the event.
Pearl Abyss to explain the technology behind the game
Before Gamescom opens to the public, Pearl Abyss will participate in the Gamescom Developer Conference, scheduled from August 23 to August 25 at the Koelnmesse venue.During the conference, the studio’s development team will present two technical sessions focused on the creation of Crimson Desert and its in-house BlackSpace Engine.Art Lead Geun-tae Ahn will discuss how player movement patterns influenced the design of the game’s world and explain the automated tools used to maintain visual consistency across different regions.Graphics Leads Jin-hwan Kim and Jin-ho Yoon will present the BlackSpace Engine, detailing its procedural generation tools and biome placement systems used to build the game’s environments while preserving regional characteristics.
Gamescom appearance follows the game’s commercial release
Pearl Abyss’ Gamescom showcase comes a few months after the release of Crimson Desert. According to the company, the game has sold more than six million copies worldwide during its first three months after launch.Gamescom 2026 will run from August 26 to August 30 in Cologne, with multiple publishers expected to offer public demonstrations of upcoming and recently released games during the event.Get the latest technology news and updates.
