Paramount+ has picked up three exciting series from A24. The major acquisition is one step forward in enhancing the streamer’s originals slate.
Today, Paramount+ announced that it has scored U.S. and select regional rights for three new original series produced by A24. These include It Gets Worse, Major Players, and The Ministry of Time.
It Gets Worse is an upcoming comedy television series written and created by Leo Reich. The series follows three best friends living in London, who face eviction from their landlords. The trio also navigates their dating lives, humiliating jobs, and other curveballs that life continues to throw at them.
The show stars Reich, Emily Fairn, Olive Gray, Gary Beadle, Lena Dunham, Simon Haines, and Andrew Scott.
Meanwhile, Major Players is an original drama co- Inspired by Molly’s own high-school experiences, the series follows two young girls who dream of starting a women’s soccer team
Finally, The Ministry of Time is the upcoming adaptation of Kaliane Bradley’s novel of the same name by Alice Birch. The story is set in a world where the newly established government gathers ‘expats’ from across history. The novel’s heroine, Sophy, finds out that she has been assigned to help a time traveler, Victorian polar explorer Commander Graham Gore, acclimatize to the modern world.
The series stars Aoife Hinds, Billy Howle, Hong Chau, Adeel Akhtar, Tamara Lawrance, Emily Fairn, Josh Finan, Ciarán Hinds, and more.
How the new A24 acquisitions strengthen Paramount+’s originals slate
In a recent statement, Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals at Paramount+, explained how the new acquisitions will help the streamer.
“For over a decade, A24 has produced some of the most exhilarating and thought-provoking independent series and films,” she shared.
“As we continue to bolster the service’s original content offering, both through internal productions and external partnerships, we immediately knew these three A24 series from across the pond would strengthen Paramount+’s reputation as the leading destination for inventive, compelling stories,” she added.
