    • OpenSea said it has begun supporting Solana (SOL)-based NFT trading as it pushes deeper into the multichain market.
    • OpenSea said OS2 now supports Solana tokens and NFTs, making major Solana NFT collections available for trading.
    • Meanwhile, as NFT marketplace trading volumes decline and service shutdowns continue, The Block Research said the downturn will continue through 2026.

    Forecast Trend Report by Period

Global non-fungible token marketplace OpenSea has begun supporting trading in Solana-based NFTs, expanding further into the multichain market.

The Block reported on August 31 that OpenSea has started allowing users to buy, sell and trade NFTs issued on the Solana blockchain on its platform. Major Solana collections including Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, BoDoggos, Collector Crypt and Phygitals are now available on OpenSea.

This is not OpenSea’s first attempt at supporting Solana NFTs. The company introduced them in a beta service in April 2022, but support was limited to 165 collections and it struggled to gain traction. At the time, Magic Eden and Tensor accounted for most Solana NFT trading volume.

Solana was later added back through OpenSea’s next-generation OS2 platform in April 2025, though only for fungible token trading. OpenSea said at the time that it would eventually expand support to NFTs. Since 2025, Solana’s native token, SOL, has also been supported as a payment option for buying NFTs on other blockchains.

“OS2 was rebuilt from the ground up as a multichain platform,” OpenSea said. “We started by supporting Solana tokens first, and have now added NFTs.” The company added that the need for support had grown as more collectibles platforms using Solana NFTs emerged.

Solana is the first non-EVM blockchain to gain NFT trading support on OpenSea since the company ended its earlier beta service. Most networks currently supported by OpenSea, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Base, Monad, Sei and Berachain, are compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, or EVM.

The expansion comes as the NFT market remains sharply below its past peak. Data from The Block shows monthly NFT marketplace trading volume, which stood in the billions of dollars in 2021 and 2022, has recently fallen to the hundreds of millions.

The prolonged market slump has also led to more service closures. Binance shut down its centralized NFT service in June, while Nifty Gateway, Kraken NFT and X2Y2 have also discontinued services in recent years. The Block Research said in its 2026 NFT market outlook that marketplace trading volume will continue to decline.

    Launches Officially OpenSea Solana trading
