For the nearly three decades that ‘One Piece’ has been in publication, Shanks has been considered one of the most powerful characters in Eiichiro Oda’s series. He continues to hold that status, but the man who was once regarded as the most powerful Haki user is no longer so. Historically, one could argue that title belonged to Joy Boy, but today, a figure from that era who is still alive stands out as possessing the most powerful Haki of all. Nerona Imu, the King of the World and possibly the strongest character in the entire series, is a figure we first encountered in the current Elbaph arc.

Few ‘One Piece’ readers could have expected Imu himself to storm into Elbaph to face off against two figures like Monkey D. Luffy and Loki, in their respective Nika and Nidhoggr forms. It was a powerful start in which we got to see his full might, with a Haki as intimidating as anything the series’ characters had ever experienced up to that point.
