    Key Points

    • Rebecca Hall will star in Netflix’s new Dan Brown series.

    • Hall’s husband, Morgan Spector, was previously revealed to be playing lead Robert Langdon.

    • The show will be an adaptation of Brown’s The Secret of Secrets.

Robert Langdon’s new love interest is a familiar one for Morgan Spector.

A week after the Gilded Age favorite was announced as the star of Netflix’s adaptation of author Dan Brown‘s iconic book series, Spector’s wife, Rebecca Hall, has been tapped as the female lead.

Based on the sixth of Brown’s Langdon novels, The Secret of Secrets, the show will feature Hall as scientist Katherine Solomon. In the 2025 novel, Langdon races against ancient forces and time to rescue Katherine and her groundbreaking manuscript, whose discoveries have the power to change humanity’s understanding of the mind.

Hall initially broke out on the big screen with Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige and Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona, with the latter scoring her a Golden Globe nomination. She’s since starred in The Town, Iron Man 3, and the Godzilla vs. Kong franchise. Most recently, she headlined Ryan Murphy’s FX series The Beauty.

Hall and Spector married in 2015 after meeting as costars on Broadway.

Previously played by Tom Hanks in a trio of Ron Howard films, Langdon is a Harvard professor and world-renowned symbologist whose memory and puzzle-solving abilities enable him to unravel mysteries involving science and spirituality. According to Netflix, the Secret of Secrets adaptation will “blend futuristic science with mystical lore, delivering on the heart-pounding suspense and international intrigue that has made the Langdon stories a global phenomenon.”

“Morgan is a truly wonderful actor whose work is always filled with intelligence, thoughtfulness and humanity,” showrunner Carlton Cuse said in a statement. “He’s the perfect fit for Robert Langdon — a brilliant academic whose curiosity, intelligence and intellect are the tools of his trade.”

Hanks first brought the Langdon character to life in 2006’s The Da Vinci Code, after the novel became one of the highest-selling books of all time. The success translated to the big screen, with the film earning more than $800 million. Howard and Hanks then reunited for 2009’s Angels & Demonsand 2016’s Inferno.

In 2021, Succession alum Ashley Zukerman took on the role for a short-lived Peacock series, The Lost Symbol.
